Y David se dijo a sí mismo: Algún día la muerte vendrá a mí de la mano de Saúl. Lo único que puedo hacer es irme a la tierra de los filisteos; entonces Saúl perderá la esperanza de llevarme a cualquier parte de la tierra de Israel, y así podré alejarme de él.
Y DIJO David en su corazón: Al fin seré muerto algún día por la mano de Saúl: nada por tanto me será mejor que fugarme á la tierra de los Filisteos, para que Saúl se deje de mí, y no me ande buscando más por todos los términos de Israel, y así me escaparé de sus manos.
And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
David said in his heart, “I will now perish one day by the hand of Saul. There is nothing better for me than that I should escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul will despair of me, to seek me any more in all the borders of Israel. So I will escape out of his hand.”

And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?

Entonces Aquis le dio a Siclag de inmediato, y por esa razón, Siclag ha sido propiedad de los reyes de Judá hasta el día de hoy.

Y cada vez que Aquis decía: ¿Dónde has estado luchando hoy? David dijo: Contra el sur de Judá y el sur de los jerameel y el sur de los ceneos.

Ni un hombre o una mujer vivos se llevaron a David con él a Gat, temiendo que pudieran dar cuenta de lo que había ocurrido y decir: Esto es lo que hizo David, y así lo ha estado haciendo todo el tiempo en que vivió en la tierra de los filisteos.

And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.

Aquis creyó en lo que dijo David, diciendo: Se ha hecho odiar por todo su pueblo Israel, y por eso será mi servidor para siempre.
Y Achîs creía á David, diciendo así: El se hace abominable en su pueblo de Israel, y será siempre mi siervo.
And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
