1David aber sagte zu sich selbst: »Eines Tages werde ich doch noch durch Sauls Hand weggerafft werden; es bleibt mir nichts Besseres übrig, als daß ich mich eilends im Lande der Philister in Sicherheit bringe; dann wird Saul davon abstehen, auf mich noch länger in allen Teilen Israels zu fahnden, und ich bin seinen Händen entronnen.«

1And David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
