1Et David partit de là et se retira dans la caverne d'Adullam. A cette nouvelle, ses frères et toute la maison de son père descendirent auprès de lui.
2Et autour de lui s'attroupèrent tous ceux qui étaient dans la gêne et avaient des créanciers et la vie amère, et il devint leur chef, et il se trouva avoir environ quatre cents hommes.
3Et de là David se rendit à Mitspeh en Moabie, et il dit au Roi de Moab : Veuille permettre à mon père et à ma mère d'émigrer chez toi jusqu'à ce que je sache ce que Dieu me dispensera.
4Et il les amena au roi de Moab, avec lequel ils demeurèrent tout le temps que David passa dans le lieu fort.
5Et le prophète de Gad dit à David : Ne reste pas dans le lieu fort ; pars et viens au pays de Juda. Et David partit et gagna la forêt de Hareth.
6Et Saül apprit qu'on était renseigné sur David et ses compagnons. Or Saül siérait à Gibea sous le Tamarin sur la hauteur, ayant la pique à la main et entouré de tous ses serviteurs debout autour.
7Et Saül dit à ses serviteurs debout autour de lui : Ecoutez, enfants de Benjamin ! Le fils d'Isaï vous dotera-t-il bien tous de champs et de vignes, et fera-t-il de vous tous des chefs de mille hommes et des capitaines de cent,
8que vous vous êtes ligués contre moi sans qu'aucun m'ait dénoncé le pacte de mon fils avec le fils d'Isaï, sans qu'aucun me montre de la sympathie et me révèle que mon fils aposte mon serviteur pour m'épier comme il le fait aujourd'hui ?
9Alors Doëg, l'Iduméen, qui se tenait à côté des serviteurs de Saül, répondit et dit : J'ai vu le fils d'Isaï venir à Nob chez Ahimélech,
10lequel a consulté pour lui l'Éternel et lui a donné des vivres et remis l'épée de Goliath le Philistin.
11Alors le Roi fit mander Ahimélech, fils d'Ahitub, le Prêtre, et toute la maison de son père les Prêtres, qui étaient à Nob, et tous ils parurent devant le Roi.
12Et Saül dit : Ecoute donc, fils d'Ahitub ! Et il dit : Me voici mon Seigneur !
13Et Saül lui dit : Pourquoi vous êtes-vous ligués contre moi, toi et le fils d'Isaï, car tu lui as donné du pain et une épée et pour lui tu as consulté Dieu, afin qu'il se dresse contre moi en insidiateur jusqu'aujourd'hui ?
14Et Ahimélech répondit au Roi et dit : Mais de tous tes serviteurs lequel a comme David la confiance du Roi, dont il est d'ailleurs le gendre, et dont il a l'oreille étant admis à son intimité et considéré dans ta maison ?
15Est-ce d'aujourd'hui que j'ai commencé à consulter Dieu pour lui ? Ce serait odieux à moi ! Que le Roi n'inculpe en rien ton serviteur, ni toute la maison de mon père ; car ton serviteur en tout cela n'a aucune complicité, ni petite ni grande.
16Mais le Roi dit à Ahimélech : Il faut que tu meures, Ahimélech, toi et toute la maison de ton père !
17Et le Roi dit aux coureurs qui se trouvaient près de lui : Allez et mettez à mort les Prêtres de l'Éternel, parce que eux aussi donnent la main à David, et parce que instruits de sa fuite ils ne me l'ont pas dénoncée. Mais les serviteurs du Roi ne voulurent pas prêter leurs mains au massacre des Prêtres de l'Éternel.
18Alors le Roi dit à Doëg : Va, toi, et fais main basse sur les Prêtres. Et Doëg, l'Iduméen, s'avança et il massacra les Prêtres, et en ce jour-là il donna la mort à quatre-vingt-cinq hommes portant l'éphod de lin.
19Et Nob, la ville sacerdotale, il la passa au fil de l'épée ; hommes, femmes, enfants, nourrissons, bœufs, ânes et moutons, tout fut passé au fil de l'épée.
20Cependant il échappa un fils d'Ahimélech, fils d'Ahitub, il se nommait Abiathar, et il s'enfuit à la suite de David.
21Et Abiathar annonça à David que Saül avait fait mourir les Prêtres de l'Éternel.
22Et David dit à Abiathar : J'ai compris ce jour-là même que, puisque Doëg, l'Iduméen, était présent, il ne manquerait pas d'informer Saül. C'est moi qui ai occasionné la mort de toutes les personnes de la maison de ton père.
23Reste avec moi ! Sois sans crainte ! car qui attente à ma vie, attente à la tienne, près de moi tu es bien gardé.

1Y YÉNDOSE David de allí escapóse á la cueva de Adullam; lo cual como oyeron sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre, vinieron allí á él.
2Y juntáronse con él todos los afligidos, y todo el que estaba adeudado, y todos los que se hallaban en amargura de espíritu, y fué hecho capitán de ellos: y tuvo consigo como cuatrocientos hombres.
3Y fuése David de allí á Mizpa de Moab, y dijo al rey de Moab: Yo te ruego que mi padre y mi madre estén con vosotros, hasta que sepa lo que Dios hará de mí.
4Trájolos pues á la presencia del rey de Moab, y habitaron con él todo el tiempo que David estuvo en la fortaleza.
5Y Gad profeta dijo á David: No te estés en esta fortaleza, pártete, y vete á tierra de Judá. Y David se partió, y vino al bosque de Hareth.
6Y oyó Saúl como había parecido David, y los que estaban con él. Estaba entonces Saúl en Gabaa debajo de un árbol en Rama, y tenía su lanza en su mano, y todos sus criados estaban en derredor de él.
7Y dijo Saúl á sus criados que estaban en derredor de él: Oid ahora, hijos de Benjamín: ¿Os dará también á todos vosotros el hijo de Isaí tierras y viñas, y os hará á todos tribunos y centuriones;
8Que todos vosotros habéis conspirado contra mí, y no hay quien me descubra al oído como mi hijo ha hecho alianza con el hijo de Isaí, ni alguno de vosotros que se duela de mí, y me descubra como mi hijo ha levantado á mi siervo contra mí, para que me aceche, según hace hoy día?
9Entonces Doeg Idumeo, que era superior entre los siervos de Saúl, respondió y dijo: Yo vi al hijo de Isaí que vino á Nob, á Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob;
10El cual consultó por él á Jehová, y dióle provisión, y también le dió la espada de Goliath el Filisteo.
11Y el rey envió por el sacerdote Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob, y por toda la casa de su padre, los sacerdotes que estaban en Nob: y todos vinieron al rey.
12Y Saúl le dijo: Oye ahora, hijo de Ahitob. Y él dijo: Heme aquí, señor mío.
13Y díjole Saúl: ¿Por qué habéis conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Isaí, cuando tú le diste pan y espada, y consultaste por él á Dios, para que se levantase contra mí y me acechase, como lo hace hoy día?
14Entonces Ahimelech respondió al rey, y dijo: ¿Y quién entre todos tus siervos es tan fiel como David, yerno además del rey, y que va por tu mandado, y es ilustre en tu casa?
15¿He comenzado yo desde hoy á consultar por él á Dios? lejos sea de mí: no impute el rey cosa alguna á su siervo, ni á toda la casa de mi padre; porque tu siervo ninguna cosa sabe de este negocio, grande ni chica.
16Y el rey dijo: Sin duda morirás, Ahimelech, tú y toda la casa de tu padre.
17Entonces dijo el rey á la gente de su guardia que estaba alrededor de él: Cercad y matad á los sacerdotes de Jehová; porque también la mano de ellos es con David, pues sabiendo ellos que huía, no me lo descubrieron. Mas los siervos del rey no quisieron extender sus manos para matar á los sacerdotes de Jehová.
18Entonces dijo el rey á Doeg: Vuelve tú, y arremete contra los sacerdotes. Y revolviéndose Doeg Idumeo, arremetió contra los sacerdotes, y mató en aquel día ochenta y cinco varones que vestían ephod de lino.
19Y á Nob, ciudad de los sacerdotes, puso á cuchillo: así á hombres como á mujeres, niños y mamantes, bueyes y asnos y ovejas, todo á cuchillo.
20Mas uno de los hijos de Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob, que se llamaba Abiathar, escapó, y huyóse á David.
21Y Abiathar notició á David como Saúl había muerto los sacerdotes de Jehová.
22Y dijo David á Abiathar: Yo sabía que estando allí aquel día Doeg el Idumeo, él lo había de hacer saber á Saúl. Yo he dado ocasión contra todas las personas de la casa de tu padre.
23Quédate conmigo, no temas: quien buscare mi vida, buscará también la tuya: bien que tú estarás conmigo guardado.

1David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
2And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
3And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
4And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.
5And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
6When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)
7Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
8That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
9Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
11Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
12And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
13And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
14Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
15Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
16And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.
17And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
18And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
19And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.
21And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
22And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.
23Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

5The prophet Gad said to David, “Don’t stay in the stronghold. Depart, and go into the land of Judah.” Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.
6Saul heard that David was discovered, with the men who were with him. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
7Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give everyone of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?
8Is that why all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
9Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10He inquired of the LORD for him, gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
11Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests who were in Nob; and they all came to the king.
12Saul said, “Hear now, you son of Ahitub.” He answered, “Here I am, my lord.”
13Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
14Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?
15Have I today begun to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me! Don’t let the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.”
16The king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house.”
17The king said to the guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled and didn’t disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king wouldn’t put out their hand to fall on the priests of the LORD.
18The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.
19He struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword—both men and women, children and nursing babies, and cattle, donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20One of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
21Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
22David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of all the persons of your father’s house.
23Stay with me. Don’t be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. You will be safe with me.”
