1*Et David partit de là, et se sauva dans la caverne d’Adullam ; et ses frères et toute la maison de son père l’apprirent, et descendirent là vers lui.
2Et tout homme qui était dans la détresse, et tout homme qui était dans les dettes, et tout homme qui avait de l’amertume dans l’âme, s’assembla vers lui, et il fut leur chef ; et il y eut avec lui environ 400 hommes.
3Et David s’en alla de là à Mitspé de Moab, et il dit au roi de Moab : Je te prie, que mon père et ma mère se retirent chez vous jusqu’à ce que je sache ce que Dieu fera de moi.
4Et il les amena devant le roi de Moab, et ils demeurèrent avec lui tous les jours que David fut dans le lieu fort.
5Et Gad, le prophète, dit à David : Ne demeure pas dans ce lieu fort ; va, et entre dans le pays de Juda. Et David s’en alla et entra dans la forêt de Héreth.
6Et Saül entendit que David et les hommes qui étaient avec lui s’étaient montrés. Et Saül était assis à Guibha sous un tamaris, sur la hauteur, sa lance à la main, et tous ses serviteurs se tenaient auprès de lui.
7Et Saül dit à ses serviteurs qui se tenaient auprès de lui : Écoutez, Benjaminites : Le fils d’Isaï vous donnera-t-il, à vous tous aussi, des champs et des vignes ? Vous établira-t-il tous chefs de milliers et chefs de centaines,
8que vous ayez tous conspiré contre moi, et que personne ne m’avertisse quand mon fils fait alliance avec le fils d’Isaï, et que personne d’entre vous ne soit peiné pour moi et ne m’avertisse que mon fils a soulevé contre moi mon serviteur pour me dresser des embûches, comme [il le fait] aujourd’hui ?
9Et Doëg, l’Édomite, qui était établi sur les serviteurs de Saül, répondit et dit : J’ai vu le fils d’Isaï venir à Nob vers Akhimélec, fils d’Akhitub ;
10et il a interrogé l’Éternel pour lui, et il lui a donné des provisions, et il lui a donné l’épée de Goliath, le Philistin.
11Et le roi envoya appeler Akhimélec, le sacrificateur, fils d’Akhitub, et toute la maison de son père, les sacrificateurs qui étaient à Nob ; et ils vinrent tous vers le roi.
12Et Saül dit : Écoute, je te prie, fils d’Akhitub. Et il dit : Me voici, mon seigneur.
13Et Saül lui dit : Pourquoi avez-vous conspiré contre moi, toi et le fils d’Isaï, que tu lui aies donné du pain et une épée, et que tu aies interrogé Dieu pour lui, afin qu’il s’élève contre moi pour me dresser des embûches, comme [il le fait] aujourd’hui ?
14Et Akhimélec répondit au roi, et dit : Et qui, parmi tous tes serviteurs, est comme David, fidèle, et gendre du roi, et ayant accès à tes audiences privées, et honoré dans ta maison ?
15Ai-je commencé aujourd’hui à interroger Dieu pour lui ? Loin de moi ! Que le roi ne mette aucune chose à la charge de son serviteur [ni de personne] de toute la maison de mon père, car de tout ceci ton serviteur ne sait aucune chose, ni petite, ni grande.
16Et le roi [lui] dit : Certainement tu mourras, Akhimélec, toi et toute la maison de ton père.
17Et le roi dit aux coureurs qui se tenaient près de lui : Tournez-vous, et mettez à mort les sacrificateurs de l’Éternel, parce que leur main aussi est avec David, et parce qu’ils ont bien su qu’il s’enfuyait, et qu’ils ne m’en ont point averti. Et les serviteurs du roi ne voulurent pas étendre leurs mains pour se jeter sur les sacrificateurs de l’Éternel.
18Et le roi dit à Doëg : Tourne-toi, et jette-toi sur les sacrificateurs. Et Doëg, l’Édomite, se tourna, et se jeta sur les sacrificateurs ; et il mit à mort, ce jour-là, 85 hommes portant l’éphod de lin.
19Et [Saül] frappa Nob, ville des sacrificateurs, par le tranchant de l’épée, homme et femme, enfant et celui qui tète, bœuf et âne, et mouton, par le tranchant de l’épée.
20Et un des fils d’Akhimélec, fils d’Akhitub, dont le nom était Abiathar, se sauva, et s’enfuit après David.
21Et Abiathar rapporta à David que Saül avait tué les sacrificateurs de l’Éternel.
22Et David dit à Abiathar : Je le savais, ce jour-là, lorsque Doëg, l’Édomite, était là, qu’il ne manquerait pas de le rapporter à Saül ; moi je suis cause [de la mort] de tous ceux de la maison de ton père.
23Demeure avec moi, ne crains point ; car celui qui cherche ma vie, cherche ta vie, et près de moi tu seras bien gardé.

1Y YÉNDOSE David de allí escapóse á la cueva de Adullam; lo cual como oyeron sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre, vinieron allí á él.
2Y juntáronse con él todos los afligidos, y todo el que estaba adeudado, y todos los que se hallaban en amargura de espíritu, y fué hecho capitán de ellos: y tuvo consigo como cuatrocientos hombres.
3Y fuése David de allí á Mizpa de Moab, y dijo al rey de Moab: Yo te ruego que mi padre y mi madre estén con vosotros, hasta que sepa lo que Dios hará de mí.
4Trájolos pues á la presencia del rey de Moab, y habitaron con él todo el tiempo que David estuvo en la fortaleza.
5Y Gad profeta dijo á David: No te estés en esta fortaleza, pártete, y vete á tierra de Judá. Y David se partió, y vino al bosque de Hareth.
6Y oyó Saúl como había parecido David, y los que estaban con él. Estaba entonces Saúl en Gabaa debajo de un árbol en Rama, y tenía su lanza en su mano, y todos sus criados estaban en derredor de él.
7Y dijo Saúl á sus criados que estaban en derredor de él: Oid ahora, hijos de Benjamín: ¿Os dará también á todos vosotros el hijo de Isaí tierras y viñas, y os hará á todos tribunos y centuriones;
8Que todos vosotros habéis conspirado contra mí, y no hay quien me descubra al oído como mi hijo ha hecho alianza con el hijo de Isaí, ni alguno de vosotros que se duela de mí, y me descubra como mi hijo ha levantado á mi siervo contra mí, para que me aceche, según hace hoy día?
9Entonces Doeg Idumeo, que era superior entre los siervos de Saúl, respondió y dijo: Yo vi al hijo de Isaí que vino á Nob, á Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob;
10El cual consultó por él á Jehová, y dióle provisión, y también le dió la espada de Goliath el Filisteo.
11Y el rey envió por el sacerdote Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob, y por toda la casa de su padre, los sacerdotes que estaban en Nob: y todos vinieron al rey.
12Y Saúl le dijo: Oye ahora, hijo de Ahitob. Y él dijo: Heme aquí, señor mío.
13Y díjole Saúl: ¿Por qué habéis conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Isaí, cuando tú le diste pan y espada, y consultaste por él á Dios, para que se levantase contra mí y me acechase, como lo hace hoy día?
14Entonces Ahimelech respondió al rey, y dijo: ¿Y quién entre todos tus siervos es tan fiel como David, yerno además del rey, y que va por tu mandado, y es ilustre en tu casa?
15¿He comenzado yo desde hoy á consultar por él á Dios? lejos sea de mí: no impute el rey cosa alguna á su siervo, ni á toda la casa de mi padre; porque tu siervo ninguna cosa sabe de este negocio, grande ni chica.
16Y el rey dijo: Sin duda morirás, Ahimelech, tú y toda la casa de tu padre.
17Entonces dijo el rey á la gente de su guardia que estaba alrededor de él: Cercad y matad á los sacerdotes de Jehová; porque también la mano de ellos es con David, pues sabiendo ellos que huía, no me lo descubrieron. Mas los siervos del rey no quisieron extender sus manos para matar á los sacerdotes de Jehová.
18Entonces dijo el rey á Doeg: Vuelve tú, y arremete contra los sacerdotes. Y revolviéndose Doeg Idumeo, arremetió contra los sacerdotes, y mató en aquel día ochenta y cinco varones que vestían ephod de lino.
19Y á Nob, ciudad de los sacerdotes, puso á cuchillo: así á hombres como á mujeres, niños y mamantes, bueyes y asnos y ovejas, todo á cuchillo.
20Mas uno de los hijos de Ahimelech hijo de Ahitob, que se llamaba Abiathar, escapó, y huyóse á David.
21Y Abiathar notició á David como Saúl había muerto los sacerdotes de Jehová.
22Y dijo David á Abiathar: Yo sabía que estando allí aquel día Doeg el Idumeo, él lo había de hacer saber á Saúl. Yo he dado ocasión contra todas las personas de la casa de tu padre.
23Quédate conmigo, no temas: quien buscare mi vida, buscará también la tuya: bien que tú estarás conmigo guardado.

1David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
2And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.
3And David went thence to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said unto the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray thee, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
4And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelt with him all the while that David was in the hold.
5And the prophet Gad said unto David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get thee into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
6When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul abode in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him;)
7Then Saul said unto his servants that stood about him, Hear now, ye Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
8That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
9Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10And he enquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
11Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.
12And Saul said, Hear now, thou son of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.
13And Saul said unto him, Why have ye conspired against me, thou and the son of Jesse, in that thou hast given him bread, and a sword, and hast enquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
14Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
15Did I then begin to enquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing unto his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
16And the king said, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy father’s house.
17And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
18And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
19And Nob, the city of the priests, smote he with the edge of the sword, both men and women, children and sucklings, and oxen, and asses, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20And one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped, and fled after David.
21And Abiathar shewed David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
22And David said unto Abiathar, I knew it that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned the death of all the persons of thy father’s house.
23Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

3David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come out to you, until I know what God will do for me.”
4He brought them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.
5The prophet Gad said to David, “Don’t stay in the stronghold. Depart, and go into the land of Judah.” Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.
6Saul heard that David was discovered, with the men who were with him. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
7Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give everyone of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?
8Is that why all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
9Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
10He inquired of the LORD for him, gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
11Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests who were in Nob; and they all came to the king.
12Saul said, “Hear now, you son of Ahitub.” He answered, “Here I am, my lord.”
13Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
14Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?
15Have I today begun to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me! Don’t let the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.”
16The king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house.”
17The king said to the guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled and didn’t disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king wouldn’t put out their hand to fall on the priests of the LORD.
18The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.
19He struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword—both men and women, children and nursing babies, and cattle, donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
20One of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
21Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
22David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of all the persons of your father’s house.
23Stay with me. Don’t be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. You will be safe with me.”
