Da fragte David die Männer, die bei ihm standen: Was wird dem zuteil, der den Philister da erschlägt und die Schmach von Israel wegnimmt? Denn wer ist dieser unbeschnittene Philister, dass er die Schlachtreihen des lebendigen Gottes höhnen darf?
Entonces habló David á los que junto á él estaban, diciendo: ¿Qué harán al hombre que venciere á este Filisteo, y quitare el oprobio de Israel? Porque ¿quién es este Filisteo incircunciso, para que provoque á los escuadrones del Dios viviente?
And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?

I know thy pride, and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.

David antwortete: Was habe ich denn nun getan? Man wird doch ein Wort reden dürfen!

Und David sprach: Der Herr, der mich aus der Tatze des Löwen und des Bären errettet hat, wird mich auch aus der Hand dieses Philisters erretten! Da sagte Saul zu David: Gehe hin! der Herr wird mit dir sein!

Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
