Reino Saúl por un año. Y cuando cumplió dos años de reinado.
HABÍA ya Saúl reinado un año; y reinado que hubo dos años sobre Israel,
Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel,
Saul was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned over Israel forty-two years.
Entonces Saúl tomó para sí tres mil hombres de Israel, de los cuales mantuvo dos mil con él en Micmas y en la montaña de Betel, y mil estaban con Jonatán en Guibea, en la tierra de Benjamín: El resto de las personas ordenó que se fueran a sus campamentos.
Escogióse luego tres mil de Israel: los dos mil estuvieron con Saúl en Michmas y en el monte de Beth-el, y los mil estuvieron con Jonathán en Gabaa de Benjamín; y envió á todo el otro pueblo cada uno á sus tiendas.
Saul chose him three thousand men of Israel; whereof two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Beth-el, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.

Y Jonatán atacó a la fuerza armada de los filisteos estacionados en Guibea; y se dio a los filisteos la noticia de que los hebreos se volvían contra ellos. Y Saúl hizo sonar un cuerno por toda la tierra,

Y todo Israel tenía la noticia de que Saúl había atacado a los filisteos, y que Israel era odiado por los filisteos. Y la gente se unió después de Saúl a Gilgal.
Y todo Israel oyó que se decía: Saúl ha herido la guarnición de los Filisteos; y también que Israel olía mal á los Filisteos. Y juntóse el pueblo en pos de Saúl en Gilgal.
And all Israel heard say that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was had in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.

Y los filisteos se juntaron para hacer la guerra a Israel, tres mil carruajes de guerra, seis mil jinetes y un ejército de personas numerosas como la arena del mar; subieron y tomaron su posición en Micmas, al al este de Bet-aven.
Entonces los Filisteos se juntaron para pelear con Israel, treinta mil carros, y seis mil caballos, y pueblo como la arena que está á la orilla de la mar en multitud; y subieron, y asentaron campo en Michmas, al oriente de Beth-aven.

Cuando los hombres de Israel vieron el peligro en el que se encontraban, (porque la gente estaba preocupada), se cubrieron en las grietas de las laderas y en los bosques y en las rocas, los hoyos y los huecos.
Mas los hombres de Israel, viéndose puestos en estrecho, (porque el pueblo estaba en aprieto), escondióse el pueblo en cuevas, en fosos, en peñascos, en rocas y en cisternas.

Y siguió esperando allí durante siete días, el tiempo fijado por Samuel, pero Samuel no vino a Gilgal; y la gente empezaba a alejarse de él.

Y cuando terminó la ofrenda quemada, vino Samuel; y Saúl salió a verlo y le dio una bendición.

And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him.

Dije: Ahora los filisteos bajarán sobre mí en Gilgal, y no he orado pidiendo ayuda al Señor; así que, me vi forzado a hacerlo, hice una ofrenda quemada.
Me dije: Los Filisteos descenderán ahora contra mí á Gilgal, y yo no he implorado el favor de Jehová. Esforcéme pues, y ofrecí holocausto.
Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
therefore I said, ‘Now the Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and I haven’t entreated the favor of the LORD.’ I forced myself therefore, and offered the burnt offering.”
Entonces Samuel dijo a Saúl: Has hecho una estupidez: no guardaste las reglas que el SEÑOR tu Dios te dio; El propósito del Señor era hacer que tu reinado sobre Israel fuera segura para siempre.
Entonces Samuel dijo á Saúl: Locamente has hecho; no guardaste el mandamiento de Jehová tu Dios, que él te había intimado; porque ahora Jehová hubiera confirmado tu reino sobre Israel para siempre.
And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the LORD your God, which he commanded you; for now the LORD would have established your kingdom on Israel forever.
Pero ahora tu reinado no continuará: el Señor buscara un hombre que le agrade en todo sentido conforme a su corazón, le dará el lugar de gobernante sobre su pueblo, porque no has hecho lo que el Señor Te dio órdenes de hacer.
Mas ahora tu reino no será durable: Jehová se ha buscado varón según su corazón, al cual Jehová ha mandado que sea capitán sobre su pueblo, por cuanto tú no has guardado lo que Jehová te mandó.
But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
But now your kingdom will not continue. The LORD has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and the LORD has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you have not kept that which the LORD commanded you.”
Luego subió Samuel de Gilgal y el resto de la gente subió después de Saúl contra los hombres de guerra, y vinieron de Gilgal a Gibeah en la tierra de Benjamín: y Saúl tomó el número de las personas que estaban Con él, unos seiscientos hombres.
Y levantándose Samuel, subió de Gilgal á Gabaa de Benjamín. Y Saúl contó la gente que se hallaba con él, como seiscientos hombres.
And Samuel arose, and gat him up from Gilgal unto Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.

Y tres escuadrones de hombres salieron de los filisteos para destruir la tierra; Un y escuadrón pasó por el camino que va a Ofra, a la tierra de Sual.

And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah, unto the land of Shual:

Y otro fue en dirección a Bet-horon; y otro fue por la colina mirando hacia el valle de Zeboim, en dirección al desierto.

Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:

Pero todos los israelitas tenían que ir a los filisteos para afilar sus arados y azadones, hachas y hoces;

But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.

Se cobraba ocho gramos de plata para afilar, los instrumentos en sus arados, azadones, horquillas y hachas, y para poner puntas de hierro en sus varas de empuje de bueyes.
Y cuando se hacían bocas en las rejas, ó en los azadones, ó en las horquillas, ó en las hachas; hasta para una ahijada que se hubiera de componer.
Yet they had a file for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.
The price was one payim each to sharpen mattocks, plowshares, pitchforks, axes, and goads.
En el día de la pelea en Micmas, no se vio ni una espada ni una lanza en las manos de ninguna de las personas con Saúl y Jonatán: solo Saúl y su hijo Jonatán los tuvieron.
Así aconteció que el día de la batalla no se halló espada ni lanza en mano de alguno de todo el pueblo que estaba con Saúl y con Jonathán, excepto Saúl y Jonathán su hijo, que las tenían.
So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
