Per la qual cosa deposta ogni malizia, e ogni frode, e le finzioni, e le invidie, e tutte le detrazioni,
DEJANDO pues toda malicia, y todo engaño, y fingimientos, y envidias, y todas las detracciones,
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Putting away therefore all wickedness, all deceit, hypocrisies, envies, and all evil speaking,
Come bambini di fresco nati bramate il latte spirituale sincero; affinchè per esso cresciate a salute:
Desead, como niños recién nacidos, la leche espiritual, sin engaño, para que por ella crezcáis en salud:
As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow,
Se pure gustato avete, come è dolce il Signore.
Si empero habéis gustado que el Señor es benigno;
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
Come to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.
Voi pure come pietre vive siete edificati sopra di lui, casa spirituale, sacerdozio santo per offerire vittime spirituali, gradite a Dio per Gesù Cristo.
Vosotros también, como piedras vivas, sed edificados una casa espiritual, y un sacerdocio santo, para ofrecer sacrificios espirituales, agradables á Dios por Jesucristo.
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
You also as living stones are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Per la qual cosa si ha nella scrittura: ecco che io pongo in Sion una pietra principale, angolare, eletta, preziosa: e chi in lei crederà, non rimarrà confuso.
Por lo cual también contiene la Escritura: He aquí, pongo en Sión la principal piedra del ángulo, escogida, preciosa; y el que creyere en ella, no será confundido.
Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
Because it is contained in Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, chosen and precious. He who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
Per voi adunque, che credete, ell'è di onore: ma per quei, che non credono, ella è la pietra rigettata da coloro, che fabbricavano: questa è divenuta testata dell'angolo:
Ella es pues honor á vosotros que creéis: mas para los desobedientes, la piedra que los edificadores reprobaron, ésta fué hecha la cabeza del ángulo;
Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
For you who believe therefore is the honor, but for those who are disobedient, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone,”
E pietra d'inciampo, e pietra di scandalo per costoro, che urtano nella parola, e non credono, al che furon pur ordinati.
Y Piedra de tropiezo, y roca de escándalo á aquellos que tropiezan en la palabra, siendo desobedientes; para lo cual fueron también ordenados.
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Ma voi stirpe eletta, sacerdozio regale, gente santa, popolo di acquisto: affinchè esaltiate le virtù di lui, che dalle tenebre vi chiamò all'ammirabil sua luce.
Mas vosotros sois linaje escogido, real sacerdocio, gente santa, pueblo adquirido, para que anunciéis las virtudes de aquel que os ha llamado de las tinieblas á su luz admirable:
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
I quali una volta non popolo, ma ora popolo di Dio: i quali non fatti partecipi di misericordia, ora poi fatti partecipi della misericordia.
Vosotros, que en el tiempo pasado no erais pueblo, mas ahora sois pueblo de Dios; que en el tiempo pasado no habíais alcanzado misericordia, mas ahora habéis alcanzado misericordia.
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Carissimi, io vi scongiuro, che come forestieri, e pellegrini vi guardiate dai desiderj carnali, che militan contro dell'anima,
Amados, yo os ruego como á extranjeros y peregrinos, os abstengáis de los deseos carnales que batallan contra el alma,
Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

Vivendo bene tralle genti: affinchè laddove sparlan di voi come di uomini di mal affare, considerando le vostre buone opere, glorifichino Dio nel dì, in cui li visiterà.
Teniendo vuestra conversación honesta entre los Gentiles; para que, en lo que ellos murmuran de vosotros como de malhechores, glorifiquen á Dios en el día de la visitación, estimándoos por las buenas obras.
Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Siate adunque per riguardo a Dio soggetti ad ogni uomo creato: tanto al Re, come sopra di tutti;
Sed pues sujetos á toda ordenación humana por respeto á Dios: ya sea al rey, como á superior;
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;

Quanto ai presidi come spediti da lui per far vendetta de' malfattori, e per onorare i buoni:
Ya á los gobernadores, como de él enviados para venganza de los malhechores, y para loor de los que hacen bien.
Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well.

Perché tale è la volontà di Dio, che ben facendo chiudiate la bocca alla ignoranza degli uomini stolti:
Porque esta es la voluntad de Dios; que haciendo bien, hagáis callar la ignorancia de los hombres vanos:
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
For this is the will of God, that by well-doing you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish men.
Come liberi, e non quasi tenendo la libertà per velame della malizia, ma come servi di Dio.
Como libres, y no como teniendo la libertad por cobertura de malicia, sino como siervos de Dios.
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.
Live as free people, yet not using your freedom for a cloak of wickedness, but as bondservants of God.
Rispettate tutti: amate i fratelli? temete Dio: rendete onore al Re.
Honrad á todos. Amad la fraternidad. Temed á Dios. Honrad al rey.

Servi, siate soggetti ai padroni con ogni timore, non solo ai buoni, e modesti, ma anche agl'indiscreti.
Siervos, sed sujetos con todo temor á vuestros amos; no solamente á los buenos y humanos, sino también á los rigurosos.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
Servants, be in subjection to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the wicked.
Imperocché è cosa di merito, se per riflesso a Dio uno sopporta molestie, patendo ingiustamente.
Porque esto es agradable, si alguno á causa de la conciencia delante de Dios, sufre molestias padeciendo injustamente.
For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
Imperocché qual onore è egli, se peccando, ed essendo puniti, patite? Ma se bene operando, e patendo, soffrite in pazienza: questo è il merito dinanzi a Dio.
Porque ¿qué gloria es, si pecando vosotros sois abofeteados, y lo sufrís? mas si haciendo bien sois afligidos, y lo sufrís, esto ciertamente es agradable delante de Dios.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
For what glory is it if, when you sin, you patiently endure beating? But if when you do well, you patiently endure suffering, this is commendable with God.
Imperocché a questo siete stati chiamati: dappoiché anche Cristo patì per noi, lasciando a voi l'esempio, affinchè le vestigia di lui seguitiate:
Porque para esto sois llamados; pues que también Cristo padeció por nosotros, dejándonos ejemplo, para que vosotros sigáis sus pisadas:
For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving you an example, that you should follow his steps,
Il quale non fe' peccato, né frode trovossi nella sua bocca:
El cual no hizo pecado; ni fué hallado engaño en su boca:
Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
who didn’t sin, “neither was deceit found in his mouth.”
Il quale venendo maledetto, non malediceva: strapazzato non minacciava: ma si rimetteva nelle mani dì chi ingiustamente lo giudicava:
Quien cuando le maldecían, no retornaba maldición; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino remitía la causa al que juzga justamente:
Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
When he was cursed, he didn’t curse back. When he suffered, he didn’t threaten, but committed himself to him who judges righteously.
Il quale i peccati nostri portò egli stesso sul proprio corpo sopra del regno (affinchè morti al peccato, viviamo alla giustizia) per le lividure del quale siete stati sanati.
El cual mismo llevó nuestros pecados en su cuerpo sobre el madero, para que nosotros siendo muertos á los pecados, vivamos á la justicia: por la herida del cual habéis sido sanados.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed by his wounds.
Imperocché eravate come pecore? sbandate, ma vi siete adesso convertiti al pastore, e vescovo delle anime vostre. In qual maniera debbano vivere insieme i conjugati, e dell'ornato delle donne: gli esorta a varie virtudi, ed a sopportare le avversità ad esempio di Cristo: pel battesimo siamo salvati a somiglianza di coloro, che ebber salute nell'arca di Noè.
Porque vosotros erais como ovejas descarriadas; mas ahora habéis vuelto al Pastor y Obispo de vuestras almas.
For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
For you were going astray like sheep; but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
