1Damals berief Salomo die Ältesten Israels und alle Stammeshäupter, die Fürsten der israelitischen Geschlechter, zum König Salomo nach Jerusalem, um des Herrn Bundeslade von der Davidsstadt, das ist Sion, hinaufzuführen.
2So sammelte sich beim König Salomo die ganze Mannschaft Israels im Monat Etanim, das ist im siebten Monat, am Feste.
3Da kamen alle Ältesten Israels, und die Priester trugen die Lade.
4Dann brachten sie die Lade des Herrn zum Festgezelt, ebenso alle heiligen Geräte im Zelt. So brachten sie die Priester und Leviten hinauf.
5Der König Salomo aber und Israels Gesamtgemeinde, die sich bei ihm eingefunden, standen mit ihm vor der Lade und opferten Schafe und Rinder, daß man sie nicht zählen noch berechnen konnte.
6Dann brachten die Priester des Herrn Bundeslade an ihren Ort im Hinterraum des Hauses, in das Allerheiligste, unter die Flügel der Cherube.
7Denn die Cherube breiteten die Flügel über den Ort der Lade. So bedeckten die Cherube die Lade und ihre Stangen von oben her.
8Die Stangen waren so lang, daß die Stangenspitzen zwar vom Heiligtum gegen den Hinterraum hin gesehen werden konnten, aber von draußen nicht sichtbar waren. Sie blieben dort bis auf diesen Tag.
9In der Lade war nichts als die zwei steinernen Tafeln, die Moses am Horeb hineingelegt hatte, die Tafeln des Bundes, den der Herr mit den Israeliten geschlossen, als sie aus Ägypterland zogen.
10Als aber die Priester das Heiligtum verließen, erfüllte die Wolke das Haus des Herrn.
11Und die Priester konnten wegen der Wolke nicht zur Dienstleistung hintreten, weil die Herrlichkeit des Herrn das Haus erfüllt hatte.
12Damals hat Salomo gesprochen: "Im Wetterdunkel hat der Herr gesprochen, er wolle Wohnung nehmen.
13Nun habe ich ein Haus für Dich zur Wohnung hergestellt, zu Deinem Wohnsitz einen Ort für ewige Zeiten."
14Dann wandte sich der König um und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israels. Die Gesamtgemeinde Israels stand unterdessen.
15Er sprach: "Gepriesen sei der Herr, Gott Israels, der schon durch seinen Mund mit David, meinem Vater, gesprochen hat und auch durch ihn erfüllt, was er geredet:
16'Seitdem ich Israel, mein Volk, einst aus Ägypten herausgeführt, habe ich aus keinem Stamme Israels eine Stadt erkoren, ein Haus darin zu bauen, daß dort mein Name sei. Doch ich erwählte David, auf daß er meinem Volke Israel vorstehe.'
17Mein Vater David hatte zwar im Sinn, dem Herrn, dem Gotte Israels, für seinen Namen eine Stätte zu erbauen.
18Doch sprach der Herr zu meinem Vater David: 'Daß du im Sinne hast, ein Haus zu bauen für meinen Namen, an diesem Plane hast du wohlgetan.
19Doch du sollst nicht dies Haus errichten. Dein Sohn, dein Leibessprosse, baue mir ein Haus für meinen Namen!'
20Der Herr bestätigte sein Wort, das er gesprochen. Ich trat an meines Vaters David Statt und setzte mich auf Israels Thron, wie es der Herr gesagt. Ich baute dieses Haus dem Herrn, dem Gott Israels, für seinen Namen.
21Ich machte einen Ort dort für die Lade, darin des Herren Bund sich findet, den er mit unseren Vätern abgeschlossen, als er sie aus Ägypterland geführt."
22Dann trat Salomo vor den Altar angesichts der Gesamtgemeinde Israels, breitete seine Hände zum Himmel
23und sprach: 'Herr, Gott Israels!Kein Gott gleicht Dir,nicht in dem Himmel droben, nicht auf der Erde unten,der Du den gnadenvollen Bund bewahrest Deinen Dienern,die mit dem ganzen Herzen vor Dir wandeln,
24der Du auch Deinem Knechte, meinem Vater,gehalten hast, was Du ihm einst versprochen.Du sprachest es mit Deinem Munde;mit Deiner Hand ließt Du's erfüllt, wie's heute ist.
25Nun, Herr, Gott Israels!Erfülle Deinem Knechte David, meinem Vater,was Du ihm einst versprochen:'Nie fehle dir vor mir ein Mann,der sitzet auf dem Throne Israels,falls deine Söhne nur auf ihren Weg so achten,daß sie vor mir ihn wandeln,so, wie auch du vor mir gewandelt bist.'
26Nun, Herr, Gott Israels!Dein Wort bewahrheite sich jetzt,das Du zu Deinem Knechte, meinem Vater David hast gesprochen.
27Soll denn in Wahrheit Gott auf Erden wohnen?Dich fassen nicht der Himmel, noch der Himmel Himmel,geschweige dieses Haus, das ich erbaut.
28Doch wende Dich dem Flehgebete Deines Knechtes zu, Du Herr, mein Gott,daß Du das Rufen und das Beten hörest,das heute Dein Knecht vor Dir vollzieht!
29Laß Deine Augen über diesem Hause offenstehen bei Tag und Nacht,hier über diesem Ort, von dem Du ausgesagt:'Mein Name wird hier sein',um das Gebet zu hören,das hier Dein Knecht verrichtet!
30Hör auf das Flehen Deines Knechtes und Deines Volkes Israel,die hier an diesem Orte beten!Vernimm es an der Stätte, wo Du thronst, im Himmel!Erhör es dann! Verzeih!
31Wenn jemand gegen seinen Nächsten fehlt,und man verlangt von ihm den Eid,er soll's beschwören,und kommt er zu dem Eid in dieses Haus vor Deinen Altar,
32so greife Du, im Himmel hörend, ein!Schaff Deinen Dienern Recht,daß Du den Schuldigen bestrafstund auf sein Haupt sein Tun läßt fallenund freisprichst den, der ohne Schuld,und ihm nach seiner Unschuld lohnest!
33Wird von dem Feinde Israel, Dein Volk, geschlagen,dieweil es sich an Dir verfehlt,und sie bekehren sich zu Dir und preisen Deinen Namenund flehn zu Dir, in diesem Hause betend,
34hör Du im Himmel!Vergib die Sünde Deines Volkes Israel!Laß seßhaft sie verbleiben auf der Scholle,die ihren Vätern Du verliehen!
35Und ist der Himmel fest verschlossenund fällt kein Regen mehr,weil gegen Dich sie sich verfehlt,und beten sie alsdann an dieser Stättein dem Bekenntnis Deines Namensund kehren sie von ihrer Sünde,dieweil Du sie gebeugt,
36dann hör es, Du im Himmel!Vergib die Sünde Deiner Knechteund Deines Volkes Israel Vergehen!Den guten Weg, auf dem sie wandeln sollen, weise ihnen!Send Regen Deinem Lande,das Du zum Erbteil Deinem Volk verliehen!
37Und wäre Hungersnot im Landeund wären Pest, Getreidebrand, Vergilbung, Heuschreckenund sonstig Ungeziefer da,bedrängte es sein Feind in seiner Tore Pfortenund käme irgendwelche Plage, irgendwelche Krankheit,
38bei jeder Klage, jeder Bitte, sei's von irgendeinem Menschen,sei es von Deinem ganzen Volke Israel,wer je ein Leid in seinem Herzen trägtund hin nach diesem Hause seine Hände breitet,
39den hör im Himmel Du!Vergib an jener Stätte, wo Du thronest!Gib jeglichem nach seinem ganzen Wandel,sowie sein Herz Du kennst!Denn Du allein kennst aller Menschenkinder Herz.
40Dann fürchten sie Dich alle Zeit,solang sie auf der Scholle leben,die unsern Vätern Du verliehen.
41Doch auch der fremde Mann, der nicht zu Deinem Volke Israel gehört,wenn er aus fremdem Lande kommt um Deines Namens willen
42- sie hören ja von Deinem großen Namen,von Deiner starken Hand und Deinem ausgestreckten Arm -wenn dieser hergepilgert und bei diesem Hause betet,
43hör Du im Himmel, Deiner Wohnstatt,und tu all das, worum der Fremdling zu Dir ruft,daß alle Erdenvölker Deinen Namen kennenlernen,daß sie Dich also fürchten, gleich Deinem Volke Israel,und daß sie inne werden,daß über diesem Haus, das ich erbaut,Dein Name ausgerufen ist!
44Und zieht Dein Volk zum Streite wider Deine Feindedes Wegs, den Du sie sendest,und beten sie zum Herrn, hin nach der Stadt, die Du erwählt,und nach dem Haus, das ich errichtet Deinem Namen,
45hör Du im Himmel ihr Gebet und Flehen!Schaff ihnen Sieg!
46Und wenn sie sich an Dir verfehlt- kein Mensch ist, der nicht sündigte -und wenn Du ihnen zürntest und sie dem Feinde überliefertestund ihre Zwingherrn sie in Feindesland verschleppten, nah oder fern,
47und gehen sie im Land, wo sie gefangen sind, in sich,bekehren sich und flehn zu Dir in ihrer Zwingherrn Landund sprechen: 'Gesündigt haben wir und schlecht gehandelt und gefrevelt',
48und sie bekehren sich zu Dir von ganzem Herzen, ganzer Seeleim Lande ihrer Feinde, die sie weggeschleppt,und beten sie zu Dir nach ihrem Lande hin,das ihren Vätern Du verliehen,hin zu der Stadt, die Du erwählt,hin zu dem Haus, das ich errichtet Deinem Namen,
49hör Du im Himmel, Deines Thronens Ort,ihr Flehen und Gebet!Schaff ihnen Recht!
50Verzeih dann Deinem Volk, was es an Dir gefehlt,und alle ihre Missetaten,womit sie gegen Dich sich je vergangen!Laß ihnen Huld von ihren Zwingherrn widerfahren,daß diese ihrer sich erbarmen!
51Sie sind Dein Volk, Dein Eigentum,das Du einst aus Ägypten weggeführt,dort mitten aus dem Schmelzofen des Eisens.
52Laß Deine Augen offenstehen für das Flehen Deines Dienersund für das Flehen Deines Volkes Israel!Daß Du in allem sie erhörst, worum sie Dich anrufen!
53Du hast zum Eigentum sie ausgesondertaus allen Erdenvölkern,wie Du durch Moses, Deinen Knecht, verheißen,als Du einst unsre Väter aus Ägypten führtest, Herr, mein Herr!'"
54Als Salomo all dieses Flehen und Beten zum Herrn beendigt hatte, stand er von dem Platze vor des Herrn Altar auf, wo er auf den Knien gelegen und seine Hände zum Himmel gebreitet hatte.
55Dann trat er vor und segnete mit lauter Stimme die Gemeinde Israels und sprach:
56"Gepriesen sei der Herr, der Ruhe seinem Volke Israel geschenkt,ganz so, wie er's verheißen hat!Von all den herrlichen Verheißungen,die er durch seinen Diener Moses einst gegeben,ist auch nicht eine einzige ausgeblieben.
57Mit uns sei unser Herr und Gott,wie er mit unsern Vätern einst gewesen!Ach, er verlaß uns nicht, verstoß uns nicht!
58Er lenke unsre Herzen zu sich hin,daß wir auf allen seinen Wegen wandelnund seine Vorschriften, Gesetze und Verordnungen beachten,die er einst unsern Vätern anbefohlen!
59So mögen diese meine Worte,die ich vorm Herrn im Flehgebete ausgesprochen,ganz nahe sein dem Herren, unserm Gott, bei Tag und Nacht,auf daß er seinem Knecht und seinem Volke Israelnach eines jeden Tags Bedürfnis Recht verschaffe!
60So kommen alle Erdenvölker zu der Einsicht,daß nur der Herr ist Gott und keiner sonst.
61Und euer Herz sei ganz beim Herren, unserm Gott,daß ihr nach seinen Rechten wandeltund das, was er gebietet, haltet, so wie heute!"
62Dann opferten der König und ganz Israel mit ihm vor dem Herrn Schlachtopfer.
63Als Dankopfer, das er dem Herrn opferte, brachte Salomo 22.000 Rinder und 12.000 Schafe dar. So weihten sie das Haus des Herrn ein, der König und alle Söhne Israels.
64An jenem Tag hatte der König den mittleren Teil des Vorhofes vor dem Hause des Herrn eingeweiht. Denn er hatte dort das Brand- und das Speiseopfer bereitet sowie die Fettstücke des Mahlopfers. Der eherne Altar, der vor dem Herrn stand, war nämlich zu klein, um das Brand- und das Speiseopfer sowie die Fettstücke des Mahlopfers zu fassen.
65So feierte Salomo in jener Zeit das Fest, mit ihm ganz Israel, eine große Gemeinde von da, wo es nach Hamat geht, bis zu Ägyptens Bach, vor dem Herrn, unserem Gott, sieben Tage lang und nochmals sieben Tage, vierzehn Tage.
66Am achten Tage aber hatte er das Volk entlassen. Sie segneten den König und gingen in ihre Heimat, fröhlich und guten Mutes wegen all des Guten, das der Herr seinem Diener David und seinem Volke Israel getan.

1ENTONCES juntó Salomón los ancianos de Israel, y á todas las cabezas de las tribus, y á los príncipes de las familias de los hijos de Israel, al rey Salomón en Jerusalem para traer el arca del pacto de Jehová de la ciudad de David, que es Sión.
2Y se juntaron al rey Salomón todos los varones de Israel en el mes de Ethanim, que es el mes séptimo, en el día solemne.
3Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel, y los sacerdotes tomaron el arca.
4Y llevaron el arca de Jehová, y el tabernáculo del testimonio, y todos los vasos sagrados que estaban en el tabernáculo; los cuales llevaban los sacerdotes y Levitas.
5Y el rey Salomón, y toda la congregación de Israel que á él se había juntado, estaban con él delante del arca, sacrificando ovejas y bueyes, que por la multitud no se podían contar ni numerar.
6Y los sacerdotes metieron el arca del pacto de Jehová en su lugar, en el oráculo de la casa, en el lugar santísimo, debajo de las alas de los querubines.
7Porque los querubines tenían extendidas las alas sobre el lugar del arca, y así cubrían los querubines el arca y sus varas por encima.
8E hicieron salir las varas; que las cabezas de las varas se dejaban ver desde el santuario delante del oráculo, mas no se veían desde afuera: y así se quedaron hasta hoy.
9En el arca ninguna cosa había más de las dos tablas de piedra que había allí puesto Moisés en Horeb, donde Jehová hizo la alianza con los hijos de Israel, cuando salieron de la tierra de Egipto.
10Y como los sacerdotes salieron del santuario, la nube hinchió la casa de Jehová.
11Y los sacerdotes no pudieron estar para ministrar por causa de la nube; porque la gloria de Jehová había henchido la casa de Jehová.
12Entonces dijo Salomón: Jehová ha dicho que él habitaría en la oscuridad.
13Yo he edificado casa por morada para ti, asiento en que tú habites para siempre.
14Y volviendo el rey su rostro, bendijo á toda la congregación de Israel; y toda la congregación de Israel estaba en pie.
15Y dijo: Bendito sea Jehová Dios de Israel, que habló de su boca á David mi padre, y con su mano lo ha cumplido, diciendo:
16Desde el día que saqué mi pueblo Israel de Egipto, no he escogido ciudad de todas las tribus de Israel para edificar casa en la cual estuviese mi nombre, aunque escogí á David para que presidiese en mi pueblo Israel.
17Y David mi padre tuvo en el corazón edificar casa al nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel.
18Mas Jehová dijo á David mi padre: Cuanto á haber tú tenido en el corazón edificar casa á mi nombre, bien has hecho en tener tal voluntad;
19Empero tú no edificarás la casa, sino tu hijo que saldrá de tus lomos, él edificará casa á mi nombre.
20Y Jehová ha verificado su palabra que había dicho; que me he levantado yo en lugar de David mi padre, y heme sentado en el trono de Israel, como Jehová había dicho, y he edificado la casa al nombre de Jehová Dios de Israel.
21Y he puesto en ella lugar para el arca, en la cual está el pacto de Jehová, que él hizo con nuestros padres cuando los sacó de la tierra de Egipto.
22Púsose luego Salomón delante del altar de Jehová, en presencia de toda la congregación de Israel, y extendiendo sus manos al cielo,
23Dijo: Jehová Dios de Israel, no hay Dios como tú, ni arriba en los cielos ni abajo en la tierra, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia á tus siervos, los que andan delante de ti de todo su corazón;
24Que has guardado á tu siervo David mi padre lo que le dijiste: dijístelo con tu boca, y con tu mano lo has cumplido, como aparece este día.
25Ahora pues, Jehová Dios de Israel, cumple á tu siervo David mi padre lo que le prometiste, diciendo: No faltará varón de ti delante de mí, que se siente en el trono de Israel, con tal que tus hijos guarden su camino, que anden delante de mí como tú has delante de mí andado.
26Ahora pues, oh Dios de Israel, verifíquese tu palabra que dijiste á tu siervo David mi padre.
27Empero ¿es verdad que Dios haya de morar sobre la tierra? He aquí que los cielos, los cielos de los cielos, no te pueden contener: ¿cuánto menos esta casa que yo he edificado?
28Con todo, tú atenderás á la oración de tu siervo, y á su plegaria, oh Jehová Dios mío, oyendo propicio el clamor y oración que tu siervo hace hoy delante de ti:
29Que estén tus ojos abiertos de noche y de día sobre esta casa, sobre este lugar del cual has dicho: Mi nombre estará allí; y que oigas la oración que tu siervo hará en este lugar.
30Oye pues la oración de tu siervo, y de tu pueblo Israel; cuando oraren en este lugar, también tú lo oirás en el lugar de tu habitación, desde los cielos: que oigas y perdones.
31Cuando alguno hubiere pecado contra su prójimo, y le tomaren juramento haciéndole jurar, y viniere el juramento delante de tu altar en esta casa;
32Tú oirás desde el cielo, y obrarás, y juzgarás á tus siervos, condenando al impío, tornando su proceder sobre su cabeza, y justificando al justo para darle conforme á su justicia.
33Cuando tu pueblo Israel hubiere caído delante de sus enemigos, por haber pecado contra ti, y á ti se volvieren, y confesaren tu nombre, y oraren, y te rogaren y suplicaren en esta casa;
34Oyelos tú en los cielos, y perdona el pecado de tu pueblo Israel, y vuélvelos á la tierra que diste á sus padres.
35Cuando el cielo se cerrare, y no lloviere, por haber ellos pecado contra ti, y te rogaren en este lugar, y confesaren tu nombre, y se volvieren del pecado, cuando los hubieres afligido;
36Tú oirás en los cielos, y perdonarás el pecado de tus siervos y de tu pueblo Israel, enseñándoles el buen camino en que anden; y darás lluvias sobre tu tierra, la cual diste á tu pueblo por heredad.
37Cuando en la tierra hubiere hambre, ó pestilencia, ó tizoncillo, ó niebla, ó langosta, ó pulgón: si sus enemigos los tuvieren cercados en la tierra de su domicilio; cualquiera plaga ó enfermedad que sea;
38Toda oración y toda súplica que hiciere cualquier hombre, ó todo tu pueblo Israel, cuando cualquiera sintiere la plaga de su corazón, y extendiere sus manos á esta casa;
39Tú oirás en los cielos, en la habitación de tu morada, y perdonarás, y obrarás, y darás á cada uno conforme á sus caminos, cuyo corazón tú conoces; (porque sólo tú conoces el corazón de todos los hijos de los hombres;)
40Para que te teman todos los días que vivieren sobre la haz de la tierra que tú diste á nuestros padres.
41Asimismo el extranjero, que no es de tu pueblo Israel, que hubiere venido de lejanas tierras á causa de tu nombre,
42(Porque oirán de tu grande nombre, y de tu mano fuerte, y de tu brazo extendido;) y viniere á orar á esta casa;
43Tú oirás en los cielos, en la habitación de tu morada, y harás conforme á todo aquello por lo cual el extranjero hubiere á ti clamado: para que todos los pueblos de la tierra conozcan tu nombre, y te teman, como tu pueblo Israel, y entiendan que tu nombre es invocado sobre esta casa que yo edifiqué.
44Si tu pueblo saliere en batalla contra sus enemigos por el camino que tú los enviares, y oraren á Jehová hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste, y hacia la casa que yo edifiqué á tu nombre,
45Tú oirás en los cielos su oración y su súplica, y les harás derecho.
46Si hubieren pecado contra ti, (porque no hay hombre que no peque) y tú estuvieres airado contra ellos, y los entregares delante del enemigo, para que los cautiven y lleven á tierra enemiga, sea lejos ó cerca,
47Y ellos volvieren en sí en la tierra donde fueren cautivos; si se convirtieren, y oraren á ti en la tierra de los que los cautivaron, y dijeren: Pecamos, hemos hecho lo malo, hemos cometido impiedad;
48Y si se convirtieren á ti de todo su corazón y de toda su alma, en la tierra de sus enemigos que los hubieren llevado cautivos, y oraren á ti hacia su tierra, que tú diste á sus padres, hacia la ciudad que tú elegiste y la casa que yo he edificado á tu nombre;
49Tú oirás en los cielos, en la habitación de tu morada, su oración y su súplica, y les harás derecho;
50Y perdonarás á tu pueblo que había pecado contra ti, y todas sus infracciones con que se habrán contra ti rebelado; y harás que hayan de ellos misericordia los que los hubieren llevado cautivos:
51Porque ellos son tu pueblo y tu heredad, que tú sacaste de Egipto, de en medio del horno de hierro.
52Que tus ojos estén abiertos á la oración de tu siervo, y á la plegaria de tu pueblo Israel, para oirlos en todo aquello por lo que te invocaren:
53Pues que tú los apartaste para ti por tu heredad de todos los pueblos de la tierra, como lo dijiste por mano de Moisés tu siervo, cuando sacaste á nuestros padres de Egipto, oh Señor Jehová.
54Y fué, que como acabó Salomón de hacer á Jehová toda esta oración y súplica, levantóse de estar de rodillas delante del altar de Jehová con sus manos extendidas al cielo;
55Y puesto en pie, bendijo á toda la congregación de Israel, diciendo en voz alta:
56Bendito sea Jehová, que ha dado reposo á su pueblo Israel, conforme á todo lo que él había dicho; ninguna palabra de todas sus promesas que expresó por Moisés su siervo, ha faltado.
57Sea con nosotros Jehová nuestro Dios, como fué con nuestros padres; y no nos desampare, ni nos deje;
58Incline nuestro corazón hacia sí, para que andemos en todos sus caminos, y guardemos sus mandamientos y sus estatutos y sus derechos, los cuales mandó á nuestros padres.
59Y que estas mis palabras con que he orado delante de Jehová, estén cerca de Jehová nuestro Dios de día y de noche, para que él proteja la causa de su siervo, y de su pueblo Israel, cada cosa en su tiempo;
60A fin de que todos los pueblos de la tierra sepan que Jehová es Dios, y que no hay otro.
61Sea pues perfecto vuestro corazón para con Jehová nuestro Dios, andando en sus estatutos, y guardando sus mandamientos, como el día de hoy.
62Entonces el rey, y todo Israel con él, sacrificaron víctimas delante de Jehová.
63Y sacrificó Salomón por sacrificios pacíficos, los cuales ofreció á Jehová, veinte y dos mil bueyes, y ciento veinte mil ovejas. Así dedicaron el rey y todos los hijos de Israel la casa de Jehová.
64Aquel mismo día santificó el rey el medio del atrio que estaba delante de la casa de Jehová: porque ofreció allí los holocaustos, y los presentes, y los sebos de los pacíficos; por cuanto el altar de bronce que estaba delante de Jehová era pequeño, y no cupieran en él los holocaustos, y los presentes, y los sebos de los pacíficos.
65En aquel tiempo Salomón hizo fiesta, y con él todo Israel, una grande congregación, desde como entran en Hamath hasta el río de Egipto, delante de Jehová nuestro Dios, por siete días y otros siete días, esto es, por catorce días.
66Y el octavo día despidió al pueblo: y ellos bendiciendo al rey, se fueron á sus estancias alegres y gozosos de corazón por todos los beneficios que Jehová había hecho á David su siervo, y á su pueblo Israel.

1Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.
2And all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto king Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
3And all the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
4And they brought up the ark of the LORD, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, even those did the priests and the Levites bring up.
5And king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel, that were assembled unto him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen, that could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
6And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
7For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.
8And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.
9There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the LORD,
11So that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD.
12Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
13I have surely built thee an house to dwell in, a settled place for thee to abide in for ever.
14And the king turned his face about, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: (and all the congregation of Israel stood;)
15And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,
16Since the day that I brought forth my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build an house, that my name might be therein; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.
17And it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
18And the LORD said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my name, thou didst well that it was in thine heart.
19Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house; but thy son that shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my name.
20And the LORD hath performed his word that he spake, and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
21And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
22And Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven:
23And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:
24Who hast kept with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him: thou spakest also with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day.
25Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
26And now, O God of Israel, let thy word, I pray thee, be verified, which thou spakest unto thy servant David my father.
27But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?
28Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O LORD my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day:
29That thine eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward this place.
30And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive.
31If any man trespass against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to cause him to swear, and the oath come before thine altar in this house:
32Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, condemning the wicked, to bring his way upon his head; and justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
33When thy people Israel be smitten down before the enemy, because they have sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and confess thy name, and pray, and make supplication unto thee in this house:
34Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them again unto the land which thou gavest unto their fathers.
35When heaven is shut up, and there is no rain, because they have sinned against thee; if they pray toward this place, and confess thy name, and turn from their sin, when thou afflictest them:
36Then hear thou in heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
37If there be in the land famine, if there be pestilence, blasting, mildew, locust, or if there be caterpiller; if their enemy besiege them in the land of their cities; whatsoever plague, whatsoever sickness there be;
38What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
39Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
40That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
41Moreover concerning a stranger, that is not of thy people Israel, but cometh out of a far country for thy name’s sake;
42(For they shall hear of thy great name, and of thy strong hand, and of thy stretched out arm;) when he shall come and pray toward this house;
43Hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for: that all people of the earth may know thy name, to fear thee, as do thy people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have builded, is called by thy name.
44If thy people go out to battle against their enemy, whithersoever thou shalt send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which thou hast chosen, and toward the house that I have built for thy name:
45Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
46If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;
47Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;
48And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
49Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause,
50And forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:
51For they be thy people, and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest forth out of Egypt, from the midst of the furnace of iron:
52That thine eyes may be open unto the supplication of thy servant, and unto the supplication of thy people Israel, to hearken unto them in all that they call for unto thee.
53For thou didst separate them from among all the people of the earth, to be thine inheritance, as thou spakest by the hand of Moses thy servant, when thou broughtest our fathers out of Egypt, O Lord GOD.
54And it was so, that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD, he arose from before the altar of the LORD, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.
55And he stood, and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
56Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.
57The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:
58That he may incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.
59And let these my words, wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD, be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all times, as the matter shall require:
60That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.
61Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
62And the king, and all Israel with him, offered sacrifice before the LORD.
63And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings, which he offered unto the LORD, two and twenty thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.
64The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD: for there he offered burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings: because the brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings, and meat offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings.
65And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.
66On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

1Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel with all the heads of the tribes, the princes of the fathers’ households of the children of Israel, to King Solomon in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD’s covenant out of David’s city, which is Zion.
2All the men of Israel assembled themselves to King Solomon at the feast in the month Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
3All the elders of Israel came, and the priests picked up the ark.
4They brought up the LORD’s ark, the Tent of Meeting, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tent. The priests and the Levites brought these up.
5King Solomon and all the congregation of Israel, who were assembled to him, were with him before the ark, sacrificing sheep and cattle that could not be counted or numbered for multitude.
6The priests brought in the ark of the LORD’s covenant to its place, into the inner sanctuary of the house, to the most holy place, even under the cherubim’s wings.
7For the cherubim spread their wings out over the place of the ark, and the cherubim covered the ark and its poles above.
8The poles were so long that the ends of the poles were seen from the holy place before the inner sanctuary, but they were not seen outside. They are there to this day.
9There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10It came to pass, when the priests had come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the LORD’s house,

12Then Solomon said, “The LORD has said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
13I have surely built you a house of habitation, a place for you to dwell in forever.”
14The king turned his face around and blessed all the assembly of Israel; and all the assembly of Israel stood.
15He said, “Blessed is the LORD, the God of Israel, who spoke with his mouth to David your father, and has with his hand fulfilled it, saying,
16‘Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house, that my name might be there; but I chose David to be over my people Israel.’
17“Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
18But the LORD said to David my father, ‘Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart.
19Nevertheless, you shall not build the house; but your son who shall come out of your body, he shall build the house for my name.’
20The LORD has established his word that he spoke; for I have risen up in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
21There I have set a place for the ark, in which is the LORD’s covenant, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.”
22Solomon stood before the LORD’s altar in the presence of all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven;
23and he said, “LORD, the God of Israel, there is no God like you, in heaven above, or on earth beneath; who keeps covenant and loving kindness with your servants who walk before you with all their heart;
24who has kept with your servant David my father that which you promised him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth, and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is today.
25Now therefore, may LORD, the God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father that which you have promised him, saying, ‘There shall not fail from you a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your children take heed to their way, to walk before me as you have walked before me.’
26“Now therefore, God of Israel, please let your word be verified, which you spoke to your servant David my father.
27But will God in very deed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens can’t contain you; how much less this house that I have built!
28Yet have respect for the prayer of your servant and for his supplication, LORD my God, to listen to the cry and to the prayer which your servant prays before you today;
29that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said, ‘My name shall be there;’ to listen to the prayer which your servant prays toward this place.
30Listen to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

54It was so, that when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication to the LORD, he arose from before the LORD’s altar, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread out toward heaven.
55He stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel with a loud voice, saying,
56“Blessed be the LORD, who has given rest to his people Israel, according to all that he promised. There has not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by Moses his servant.
57May the LORD our God be with us as he was with our fathers. Let him not leave us or forsake us,
