1Und Salomoh verschwägerte sich mit Pharao, dem König von Ägypten, und nahm die Tochter Pharaos und brachte sie in die Stadt Davids, bis er den Bau seines Hauses und des Hauses Jehovahs und der Mauer rings um Jerusalem vollendet hätte.
2Das Volk opferte jedoch auf den Opferhöhen; denn noch war bis zu selbigen Tagen kein Haus für den Namen Jehovahs gebaut.
3Und Salomoh liebte Jehovah, so, daß er nach den Satzungen seines Vaters David wandelte, nur daß er auf den Opferhöhen opferte und räucherte.
4Und der König ging nach Gibeon, um allda zu opfern; denn dort war die große Opferhöhe. Tausend Brandopfer opferte Salomoh auf selbigem Altar.
5In Gibeon erschien Jehovah dem Salomoh im Traume der Nacht; und Gott sprach: Bitte, was Ich dir geben soll.
6Und Salomoh sprach: Du hast an Deinem Knechte David, meinem Vater, große Barmherzigkeit getan, wie er vor Dir wandelte in Wahrheit, Gerechtigkeit und Geradheit des Herzens mit Dir, und hast ihm diese große Barmherzigkeit gehalten und ihm einen Sohn gegeben, der auf seinem Throne säße, wie es an diesem Tage ist.
7Und nun hast Du, o Jehovah, mein Gott, Deinen Knecht an Davids, meines Vaters Stelle zum König gemacht, und ich bin noch ein kleiner Junge, weiß weder Ausgang noch Eingang.
8Und Dein Knecht ist inmitten Deines Volkes, das Du erwähltest, vieles Volkes, so, daß man es nicht berechnen noch zählen kann vor Menge.
9So gib Deinem Knecht ein gehorsames Herz, zu richten Dein Volk, zu unterscheiden zwischen gut und böse; denn wer vermöchte sonst dies Dein gewichtiges Volk zu richten.
10Und das Wort war gut in den Augen des Herrn, daß Salomoh um solches bat.
11Und Gott sprach zu ihm: Weil du um solches gebeten, und nicht gebeten hast für dich um viele Tage, und nicht gebeten für dich um Reichtum und nicht gebeten hast um die Seele deiner Feinde, sondern für dich gebeten hast um Einsicht, das Recht zu hören:
12Siehe, so habe Ich getan nach deinem Worte. Siehe, Ich habe dir gegeben ein weises und einsichtsvolles Herz, daß gleich dir keiner vor dir war, noch nach dir aufstehen soll gleich dir.
13Und auch um was du nicht gebeten hast, gebe Ich dir, beides, Reichtum und Herrlichkeit, so daß kein Mann unter den Königen gewesen ist, wie du alle deine Tage.
14Und wenn du wandelst in Meinen Wegen, daß du hältst Meine Satzungen und Gebote, wie David, dein Vater, wandelte, so verlängere Ich deine Tage.
15Und Salomoh erwachte und siehe, es war ein Traum; und er kam nach Jerusalem und stand vor der Lade des Bundes Jehovahs, und opferte Brandopfer und brachte Dankopfer dar, und machte ein Gastmahl für alle seine Knechte.
16Da kamen zwei Weiber, Buhlerinnen, zum König hinein und standen vor ihm.
17Und das eine Weib sprach: Bitte, mein Herr, ich und das Weib da, wohnen in einem Hause, und ich gebar bei ihr im Hause.
18Und es geschah am dritten Tage nach meinem Gebären, daß auch dieses Weib gebar, und wir waren zusammen. Kein Fremder war bei uns im Hause, nur wir zwei waren im Hause.
19Und der Sohn dieses Weibes starb in der Nacht, weil sie auf ihm gelegen hatte.
20Und sie stand mitten in der Nacht auf und nahm meinen Sohn von meiner Seite, da deine Magd schlief, und sie legte ihn an ihren Busen, und ihren Sohn, den toten, legte sie an meinen Busen.
21Und ich stand am Morgen auf, um meinen Sohn zu säugen, und siehe, er war tot; da ich ihn aber am Morgen betrachtete, siehe aber, da war es nicht mein Sohn, den ich geboren hatte.
22Und das andere Weib sprach: Nein, mein Sohn ist der lebende und dein Sohn der tote. Und diese sprach: Nein, sondern dein Sohn ist der tote, und mein Sohn ist der lebendige; und so redeten sie vor dem König.
23Und der König sprach: Die hier spricht: Der lebendige da ist mein Sohn, und dein Sohn ist der tote, und die da sagt: Nein, sondern dein Sohn ist der tote, und mein Sohn der lebendige.
24Und der König sprach: Holet mir ein Schwert. Und sie brachten das Schwert vor den König.
25Und der König sprach: Hauet damit das lebendige Kind entzwei, und gebt die Hälfte der einen und die Hälfte der anderen.
26Und das Weib, deren Sohn der lebendige war, sprach zu dem Könige; denn ihr Erbarmen ward erregt für ihren Sohn, und sie sprach: Bitte, mein Herr, gebt ihr das lebendige Kind und tötet es nicht. Jene aber sprach: Weder mein noch dein sei es, hauet es entzwei.
27Und der König antwortete und sprach: Gebt ihr das lebendige Kind und tötet es nicht! Sie ist seine Mutter.
28Und ganz Israel hörte das Gericht, das der König gerichtet hatte, und sie fürchteten sich vor dem Könige; denn sie sahen, daß die Weisheit Gottes in seinem Inneren war, Gericht zu tun.

1Y SALOMÓN hizo parentesco con Faraón rey de Egipto, porque tomó la hija de Faraón, y trájola á la ciudad de David, entre tanto que acababa de edificar su casa, y la casa de Jehová, y los muros de Jerusalem alrededor.
2Hasta entonces el pueblo sacrificaba en los altos; porque no había casa edificada al nombre de Jehová hasta aquellos tiempos.
3Mas Salomón amó á Jehová, andando en los estatutos de su padre David: solamente sacrificaba y quemaba perfumes en los altos.
4E iba el rey á Gabaón, porque aquél era el alto principal, y sacrificaba allí: mil holocaustos sacrificaba Salomón sobre aquel altar.
5Y aparecióse Jehová á Salomón en Gabaón una noche en sueños, y díjole Dios: Pide lo que quisieres que yo te dé.
6Y Salomón dijo: Tú hiciste gran misericordia á tu siervo David mi padre, según que él anduvo delante de ti en verdad, en justicia, y con rectitud de corazón para contigo: y tú le has guardado esta tu grande misericordia, que le diste hijo que se sentase en su trono, como sucede en este día.
7Ahora pues, Jehová Dios mío, tú has puesto á mí tu siervo por rey en lugar de David mi padre: y yo soy mozo pequeño, que no sé cómo entrar ni salir.
8Y tu siervo está en medio de tu pueblo al cual tú escogiste; un pueblo grande, que no se puede contar ni numerar por su multitud.
9Da pues á tu siervo corazón dócil para juzgar á tu pueblo, para discernir entre lo bueno y lo malo: porque ¿quién podrá gobernar este tu pueblo tan grande?
10Y agradó delante de Adonai que Salomón pidiese esto.
11Y díjole Dios: Porque has demandado esto, y no pediste para ti muchos días, ni pediste para ti riquezas, ni pediste la vida de tus enemigos, mas demandaste para ti inteligencia para oir juicio;
12He aquí lo he hecho conforme á tus palabras: he aquí que te he dado corazón sabio y entendido, tanto que no haya habido antes de ti otro como tú, ni después de ti se levantará otro como tú.
13Y aun también te he dado las cosas que no pediste, riquezas y gloria: tal, que entre los reyes ninguno haya como tú en todos tus días.
14Y si anduvieres en mis caminos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como anduvo David tu padre, yo alargaré tus días.
15Y como Salomón despertó, vió que era sueño: y vino á Jerusalem, y presentóse delante del arca del pacto de Jehová, y sacrificó holocaustos, é hizo pacíficos; hizo también banquete á todos sus siervos.
16En aquella sazón vinieron dos mujeres rameras al rey, y presentáronse delante de él.
17Y dijo la una mujer: ¡Ah, señor mío! yo y esta mujer morábamos en una misma casa, y yo parí estando con ella en la casa.
18Y aconteció al tercer día después que yo parí, que ésta parió también, y morábamos nosotras juntas; ninguno de fuera estaba en casa, sino nosotras dos en la casa.
19Y una noche el hijo de esta mujer murió, porque ella se acostó sobre él.
20Y levantóse á media noche, y tomó á mi hijo de junto á mí, estando yo tu sierva durmiendo, y púsolo á su lado, y púsome á mi lado su hijo muerto.
21Y como yo me levanté por la mañana para dar el pecho á mi hijo, he aquí que estaba muerto: mas observéle por la mañana, y vi que no era mi hijo, que yo había parido.
22Entonces la otra mujer dijo: No; mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto. Y la otra volvió á decir: No; tu hijo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive. Así hablaban delante del rey.
23El rey entonces dijo: Esta dice: Mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto: y la otra dice, No, mas el tuyo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive.
24Y dijo el rey: Traedme un cuchillo. Y trajeron al rey un cuchillo.
25En seguida el rey dijo: Partid por medio el niño vivo, y dad la mitad á la una, y la otra mitad á la otra.
26Entonces la mujer cuyo era el hijo vivo, habló al rey (porque sus entrañas se le conmovieron por su hijo), y dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! dad á ésta el niño vivo, y no lo matéis. Mas la otra dijo: Ni á mí ni á ti; partidlo.
27Entonces el rey respondió, y dijo: Dad á aquélla el hijo vivo, y no lo matéis: ella es su madre.
28Y todo Israel oyó aquel juicio que había dado el rey: y temieron al rey, porque vieron que había en él sabiduría de Dios para juzgar.
King James Version
1And Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the LORD, and the wall of Jerusalem round about.
2Only the people sacrificed in high places, because there was no house built unto the name of the LORD, until those days.
3And Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father: only he sacrificed and burnt incense in high places.
4And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there; for that was the great high place: a thousand burnt offerings did Solomon offer upon that altar.
5In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.
6And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
7And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.
8And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.
9Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?
10And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
12Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.
13And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days.
14And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
15And Solomon awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
16Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19And this woman’s child died in the night; because she overlaid it.
20And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead: but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
23Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
27Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it: she is the mother thereof.
28And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him, to do judgment.
World English Bible
1Solomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. He took Pharaoh’s daughter and brought her into David’s city until he had finished building his own house, the LORD’s house, and the wall around Jerusalem.
2However, the people sacrificed in the high places, because there was not yet a house built for the LORD’s name.
3Solomon loved the LORD, walking in the statutes of David his father, except that he sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
4The king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.
5In Gibeon, the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask for what I should give you.”
6Solomon said, “You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, because he walked before you in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is today.
7Now, LORD my God, you have made your servant king instead of David my father. I am just a little child. I don’t know how to go out or come in.
8Your servant is among your people which you have chosen, a great people, that can’t be numbered or counted for multitude.
9Give your servant therefore an understanding heart to judge your people, that I may discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this great people of yours?”
10This request pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
11God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have you asked for riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,
12behold, I have done according to your word. Behold, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, and after you none will arise like you.
13I have also given you that which you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you for all your days.
14If you will walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
15Solomon awoke; and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the LORD’s covenant, and offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.
16Then two women who were prostitutes came to the king, and stood before him.
17The one woman said, “Oh, my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house. I delivered a child with her in the house.
18The third day after I delivered, this woman delivered also. We were together. There was no stranger with us in the house, just us two in the house.
19This woman’s child died in the night, because she lay on it.
20She arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me while your servant slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom.
21When I rose in the morning to nurse my child, behold, he was dead; but when I had looked at him in the morning, behold, it was not my son whom I bore.”
22The other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.” The first one said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.” They argued like this before the king.
23Then the king said, “One says, ‘This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead one;’ and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’”
24The king said, “Get me a sword.” So they brought a sword before the king.
25The king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.”
26Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill him!” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide him.”
27Then the king answered, “Give the first woman the living child, and definitely do not kill him. She is his mother.”
28All Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do justice.
