Salomón emparentó con el Faraón, rey de Egipto, tomando (por mujer) a la hija del Faraón, a la que trajo a la ciudad de David, hasta que hubiese acabado de edificar su propia casa, la casa de Yahvé, y las murallas en derredor de Jerusalén.
Y SALOMÓN hizo parentesco con Faraón rey de Egipto, porque tomó la hija de Faraón, y trájola á la ciudad de David, entre tanto que acababa de edificar su casa, y la casa de Jehová, y los muros de Jerusalem alrededor.

A lo que respondió Salomón: “Tú has hecho gran misericordia a tu siervo David, mi padre, conforme caminaba él en tu presencia en fidelidad, en justicia y en rectitud de corazón para contigo, y le has conservado esta gran misericordia, dándole un hijo que se sentara sobre su trono, como hoy (se verifica).
Y Salomón dijo: Tú hiciste gran misericordia á tu siervo David mi padre, según que él anduvo delante de ti en verdad, en justicia, y con rectitud de corazón para contigo: y tú le has guardado esta tu grande misericordia, que le diste hijo que se sentase en su trono, como sucede en este día.
And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.
Solomon said, “You have shown to your servant David my father great loving kindness, because he walked before you in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with you. You have kept for him this great loving kindness, that you have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is today.
Ahora pues, oh Yahvé, Dios mío, tú has hecho rey a tu siervo en lugar de mi padre David, a pesar de ser yo todavía un niño pequeño que no sabe cómo conducirse.
Ahora pues, Jehová Dios mío, tú has puesto á mí tu siervo por rey en lugar de David mi padre: y yo soy mozo pequeño, que no sé cómo entrar ni salir.

Estas palabras agradaron al Señor, por haber pedido Salomón semejante cosa,
Y agradó delante de Adonai que Salomón pidiese esto.

y le dijo Dios: “Por cuanto has pedido esto, y no has pedido para ti larga vida, ni riquezas, ni la muerte de tus enemigos; sino que has pedido para ti inteligencia a fin de aprender justicia,
Y díjole Dios: Porque has demandado esto, y no pediste para ti muchos días, ni pediste para ti riquezas, ni pediste la vida de tus enemigos, mas demandaste para ti inteligencia para oir juicio;
And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment;
God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have you asked for riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice,
sábete que te hago según tu palabra; he aquí que te doy un corazón tan sabio e inteligente, como no ha habido antes de ti, ni lo habrá igual después de ti.
He aquí lo he hecho conforme á tus palabras: he aquí que te he dado corazón sabio y entendido, tanto que no haya habido antes de ti otro como tú, ni después de ti se levantará otro como tú.
Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee.

Y aun lo que no pediste te lo doy: riqueza y gloria, de suerte que no habrá entre los reyes ninguno como tú en todos tus días.

Se despertó Salomón y (comprendió) que era un sueño. De vuelta a Jerusalén, se presentó delante del Arca de la Alianza del Señor, ofreció holocaustos y sacrificios pacíficos y dio un banquete a todos sus servidores.
Y como Salomón despertó, vió que era sueño: y vino á Jerusalem, y presentóse delante del arca del pacto de Jehová, y sacrificó holocaustos, é hizo pacíficos; hizo también banquete á todos sus siervos.

Respondió la otra mujer: “¡No, sino que mi hijo es el vivo, y tu hijo el muerto!” La primera, empero, decía: “¡No, sino que tu hijo es el muerto, y el mío el Vivo!” Y así altercaban ante el rey.
Entonces la otra mujer dijo: No; mi hijo es el que vive, y tu hijo es el muerto. Y la otra volvió á decir: No; tu hijo es el muerto, y mi hijo es el que vive. Así hablaban delante del rey.
And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
The other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.” The first one said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.” They argued like this before the king.
Entonces dijo el rey: “Esta dice: Mi hijo es el vivo, y tu hijo el muerto; y aquella dice: No, sino que tu hijo es el muerto, y el mío el vivo.”

Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead: and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
Then the king said, “One says, ‘This is my son who lives, and your son is the dead one;’ and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’”
Y ordenó el rey: “Traedme una espada”, y trajeron la espada ante el rey,

And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.

En este momento la mujer cuyo niño era el vivo, habló al rey —porque se le conmovían las entrañas por amor a su hijo— y dijo: “¡Óyeme, señor mío! ¡Dadle a ella el niño vivo, y de ninguna manera lo matéis!”; en tanto que la otra decía: “¡No ha de ser ni mío ni tuyo, sino divídase!”
Entonces la mujer cuyo era el hijo vivo, habló al rey (porque sus entrañas se le conmovieron por su hijo), y dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! dad á ésta el niño vivo, y no lo matéis. Mas la otra dijo: Ni á mí ni á ti; partidlo.
Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
Then the woman whose the living child was spoke to the king, for her heart yearned over her son, and she said, “Oh, my lord, give her the living child, and in no way kill him!” But the other said, “He shall be neither mine nor yours. Divide him.”
Entonces tomó el rey la palabra y dijo: “¡Dad a la primera el niño vivo, y no lo matéis; ella es su madre!”
