Un profeta di Giuda va a trovare Jeroboam, predice la distruzione dell'altare, e la nascita dell re Giosìa. Alle preghiere del medesimo e risanata la mano di Jeroboam, che era inaridita: il profeta nel suo ritorno è ucciso da un lione per avere disubbidito al comando di Dio. Ma Jeroboam va crescendo nell'empietà.
