1 Corintios 9

1¿No tengo yo libertad? ¿No soy yo apóstol? ¿No he visto yo a Jesucristo, Señor nuestro? ¿No sois vosotros obra mía en el Señor?
2Lo cierto es que aun cuando para los otros no fuera apóstol, al menos lo sería para vosotros, siendo como sois el sello, o la patente, de mi apostolado en el Señor.
3Ved ahí mi respuesta a aquellos que se meten a examinar y sindicar mi conducta.
4¿Acaso no tenemos derecho de ser alimentados a expensas vuestras?
5¿Por ventura no tenemos también facultad de llevar en los viajes alguna mujer hermana en Jesucristo, para que nos asista, como hacen los demás apóstoles, y los hermanos o parientes del Señor, y el mismo Cefas, o Pedro?
6¿O sólo yo y Bernabé no podemos hacer esto?
7¿Quién milita jamás a sus expensas? ¿Quién planta una viña, y no come de su fruto? ¿Quién apacienta un rebaño, y no se alimenta de la leche del ganado?
8¿Y por ventura esto que digo es solamente un raciocinio humano? ¿O no dice la ley esto mismo?
9Pues en la ley de Moisés está escrito: No pongas bozal al buey que trilla. ¿Será que Dios se preocupa de los bueyes?
10¿Acaso no dice esto principalmente por nosotros? Sí, ciertamente por nosotros se han escrito estas cosas; porque la esperanza hace arar al que ara; y el que trilla lo hace con la esperanza de percibir el fruto.
11Si nosotros, pues, hemos sembrado entre vosotros bienes espirituales, ¿será gran cosa que recojamos un poco de vuestros bienes temporales?
12Si otros participan de este derecho a lo vuestro ¿por qué no más bien nosotros?; pero con todo no hemos hecho uso de esa facultad, antes bien todo lo sufrimos y padecemos por no poner estorbo alguno a la buena nueva de Cristo .
13¿No sabéis que los que sirven en el templo, se mantienen de lo que es del templo, y que los que sirven al altar, participan de las ofrendas?
14Así también dejó el Señor ordenado que los que predican la buena nueva, vivan de ello.
15Mas yo de ninguna de estas cosas me he valido. Ni ahora escribo esto para que así se haga conmigo; porque tengo por mejor morir que el que alguno me haga perder esta gloria.
16Como quiera que por predicar la buena nueva no tengo gloria, pues estoy por necesidad obligado a ello; y desventurado de mí si no lo predicare.
17Por lo cual si lo hago de buena voluntad, premio aguardo; pero si por fuerza, entonces no hago más que cumplir con el cargo que tengo.
18Según esto, pues, ¿dónde está mi galardón? Está en predicar gratuitamente la buena nueva, sin ocasionar ningún gasto, para no abusar, del derecho que tengo por la predicación de la buena nueva.
19En verdad que estando libre, o independiente, de todos me he hecho siervo, para ganar más almas.
20Y así con los judíos he vivido como judío, para ganar, o convertir, a los judíos;
21con los sujetos a la ley, o prosélitos he vivido como si yo estuviese sujeto a la ley (con no estar yo sujeto a ella) sólo por ganar a los que a la ley vivían sujetos; así como con los que no estaban sujetos a la ley de Moisés, he vivido como si yo tampoco lo estuviese (aunque tenía yo una ley con respecto a Dios, teniendo la de Jesucristo) a cambio de ganar a los que vivían sin ley.
22Me hice flaco con los flacos, por ganar a los flacos. me hice todo para todos, para salvarlos a todos,
23todo lo cual hago por amor de la buena nueva, a fin de participar de sus promesas.
24¿No sabéis que los que corren en el estadio, si bien todos corren, uno solo se lleva el premio? Corred, pues, hermanos míos, de tal manera que lo ganéis.
25Ello es que todos los que han de luchar en la palestra, guardan en todo una exacta continencia; y no es sino para alcanzar una corona perecedera; al paso que nosotros la esperamos eterna.
26Así que, yo voy corriendo, no como quien corre a la ventura; peleo, no como quien tira golpes al aire, sin tocar a su enemigo,
27sino que castigo mi cuerpo rebelde y lo esclavizo, no sea que habiendo predicado a los otros, venga yo a ser reprobado.

1¿NO soy apóstol? ¿no soy libre? ¿no he visto á Jesús el Señor nuestro? ¿no sois vosotros mi obra en el Señor?
2Si á los otros no soy apóstol, á vosotros ciertamente lo soy: porque el sello de mi apostolado sois vosotros en el Señor.
3Esta es mi respuesta á los que me preguntan.
4Qué, ¿no tenemos potestad de comer y de beber?
5¿No tenemos potestad de traer con nosotros una hermana mujer también como los otros apóstoles, y los hermanos del Señor, y Cefas?
6¿O sólo yo y Bernabé no tenemos potestad de no trabajar?
7¿Quién jamás peleó á sus expensas? ¿quién planta viña, y no come de su fruto? ¿ó quién apacienta el ganado, y no come de la leche del ganado?
8¿Digo esto según los hombres? ¿no dice esto también la ley?
9Porque en la ley de Moisés está escrito: No pondrás bozal al buey que trilla. ¿Tiene Dios cuidado de los bueyes?
10¿O dícelo enteramente por nosotros? Pues por nosotros está escrito; porque con esperanza ha de arar el que ara; y el que trilla, con esperanza de recibir el fruto.
11Si nosotros os sembramos lo espiritual, ¿es gran cosa si segáremos lo vuestro carnal?
12Si otros tienen en vosotros esta potestad, ¿no más bien nosotros? Mas no hemos usado de esta potestad: antes lo sufrimos todo, por no poner ningún obstáculo al evangelio de Cristo.
13¿No sabéis que los que trabajan en el santuario, comen del santuario; y que los que sirven al altar, del altar participan?
14Así también ordenó el Señor á los que anuncian el evangelio, que vivan del evangelio.
15Mas yo de nada de esto me aproveché: ni tampoco he escrito esto para que se haga así conmigo; porque tengo por mejor morir, antes que nadie haga vana esta mi gloria.
16Pues bien que anuncio el evangelio, no tengo por qué gloriarme; porque me es impuesta necesidad; y ¡ay de mí si no anunciare el evangelio!
17Por lo cual, si lo hago de voluntad, premio tendré; mas si por fuerza, la dispensación me ha sido encargada.
18¿Cuál, pues, es mi merced? Que predicando el evangelio, ponga el evangelio de Cristo de balde, para no usar mal de mi potestad en el evangelio.
19Por lo cual, siendo libre para con todos, me he hecho siervo de todos por ganar á más.
20Heme hecho á los Judíos como Judío, por ganar á los Judíos; á los que están sujetos á la ley (aunque yo no sea sujeto á la ley) como sujeto á la ley, por ganar á los que están sujetos á la ley;
21A los que son sin ley, como si yo fuera sin ley, (no estando yo sin ley de Dios, mas en la ley de Cristo) por ganar á los que estaban sin ley.
22Me he hecho á los flacos flaco, por ganar á los flacos: á todos me he hecho todo, para que de todo punto salve á algunos.
23Y esto hago por causa del evangelio, por hacerme juntamente participante de él.
24¿No sabéis que los que corren en el estadio, todos á la verdad corren, mas uno lleva el premio? Corred de tal manera que lo obtengáis.
25Y todo aquel que lucha, de todo se abstiene: y ellos, á la verdad, para recibir una corona corruptible; mas nosotros, incorruptible.
26Así que, yo de esta manera corro, no como á cosa incierta; de esta manera peleo, no como quien hiere el aire:
27Antes hiero mi cuerpo, y lo pongo en servidumbre; no sea que, habiendo predicado á otros, yo mismo venga á ser reprobado.

1Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?
2If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord.
3Mine answer to them that do examine me is this,
4Have we not power to eat and to drink?
5Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
6Or I only and Barnabas, have not we power to forbear working?
7Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
8Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
9For it is written in the law of Moses, Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. Doth God take care for oxen?
10Or saith he it altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
11If we have sown unto you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
12If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather? Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things, lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
13Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
14Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.
15But I have used none of these things: neither have I written these things, that it should be so done unto me: for it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
16For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
17For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
18What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
19For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more.
20And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law;
21To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law.
22To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
23And this I do for the gospel’s sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
24Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
25And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.
26I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
27But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
World English Bible
1Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Haven’t I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Aren’t you my work in the Lord?
2If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.
3My defense to those who examine me is this:
4Have we no right to eat and to drink?
5Have we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?
6Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not work?
7What soldier ever serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and doesn’t eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and doesn’t drink from the flock’s milk?
8Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or doesn’t the law also say the same thing?
9For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it for the oxen that God cares,
10or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.
11If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?
12If others partake of this right over you, don’t we yet more? Nevertheless we didn’t use this right, but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the Good News of Christ.
13Don’t you know that those who serve around sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the altar have their portion with the altar?
14Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Good News should live from the Good News.
15But I have used none of these things, and I don’t write these things that it may be done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my boasting void.
16For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about, for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me if I don’t preach the Good News.
17For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.
18What then is my reward? That when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.
19For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.
20To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;
21to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law.
22To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.
23Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it.
24Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, so that you may win.
25Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.
26I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,
27but I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
