1Assim, eu e Apolo devemos ser considerados como servos de Cristo encarregados da realização dos mistérios de Deus.
2Agora, a coisa mais importante a respeito de um servo é que seja fiel ao seu Senhor.
3E quanto a mim? Tenho sido um bom servo? Bem, não me preocupa o que vocês pensem disso, ou o que qualquer outra pessoa pense. Na verdade, nem eu julgo a mim mesmo.
4Minha consciência está limpa, mas mesmo isso não é a prova final. É o Senhor quem me julga.
5Assim, tenham cuidado de não tirarem conclusões apressadas, antes da volta do Senhor. Quando o Senhor voltar, derramará luz sobre o que está oculto nas trevas e mostrará as intenções do coração. Então todos saberão com que intenção temos feito a obra do Senhor. Naquele momento cada um receberá a aprovação de Deus que merecer.
6Usei Apolo e a mim mesmo como exemplos, para ilustrar o que lhes digo: que vocês não devem ter preferências pessoais. Dentre aqueles que lhes ensinam a respeito de Deus, vocês não devem orgulhar-se mais por uma pessoa do que por outra.
7Que é que faz vocês superiores a qualquer outra pessoa? Que é que vocês têm que Deus não lhes tenha dado? E, se tudo quanto vocês têm vem de Deus, por que proceder como se fossem tão grandes e como se tivessem realizado algo por si mesmos?
8Parece que vocês pensam que já têm tudo que precisam. Já são ricos! Vocês já se tornaram reis, deixando-nos para trás! Eu gostaria que, na realidade, vocês já estivessem em seus tronos, pois quando aquele momento chegar, podem estar certos de que nós também estaremos lá, reinando com vocês.
9Por vezes penso que Deus nos colocou a nós, os apóstolos, em último lugar, como prisioneiros prestes a ser executados, postos como espetáculo para o mundo, tanto diante de anjos como de homens.
10Por causa de Cristo nós somos loucos, mas, sem dúvida, vocês todos são sensatos! Nós somos fracos, mas vocês são fortes! Vocês são bem considerados, e nós, desprezados.
11Até este momento temos passado fome e sede, sem roupas suficientes para nos aquecermos. Temos sido tratados brutalmente, sem um lar que nos pertença.
12Temos trabalhado sem descanso com nossas próprias mãos, a fim de ganhar a vida. Temos abençoado aqueles que nos amaldiçoaram. Temos sido pacientes com aqueles que nos perseguem.
13Temos respondido com mansidão quando se diziam coisas más a nosso respeito que não eram verdade. Até agora, somos como a sujeira debaixo dos pés, como lixo do mundo.
14Não lhes estou escrevendo sobre essas coisas para envergonhá-los, mas para advertir e aconselhá-los como a filhos amados.
15Ainda que vocês possam ter dez mil outros tutores para ensiná-los a respeito de Cristo, lembrem-se que vocês não têm muitos pais. Porque fui eu que os gerei por meio do evangelho, em Cristo Jesus.
16Portanto, suplico-lhes que sejam meus imitadores.
17É exatamente por esta razão que eu lhes estou enviando Timóteo. Ele é meu filho amado e fiel no Senhor. Ele recordará a vocês a maneira de viver em Cristo Jesus, segundo o que eu ensino em todas as igrejas, em qualquer lugar aonde eu vou.
18Eu sei que alguns de vocês se tornaram arrogantes, como se eu não fosse mais visitá-los.
19Porém eu irei, e dentro em breve, se o Senhor me permitir; então verei não apenas o que esses homens arrogantes estão falando, mas que poder eles têm.
20Pois o reino de Deus não consiste em palavras; mas em poder.
21O que é que vocês escolhem? Querem que eu vá com vara, ou querem que eu vá com amor e espírito de mansidão e bondade?

1TÉNGANNOS los hombres por ministros de Cristo, y dispensadores de los misterios de Dios.
2Mas ahora se requiere en los dispensadores, que cada uno sea hallado fiel.
3Yo en muy poco tengo el ser juzgado de vosotros, ó de juicio humano; y ni aun yo me juzgo.
4Porque aunque de nada tengo mala conciencia, no por eso soy justificado; mas el que me juzga, el Señor es.
5Así que, no juzguéis nada antes de tiempo, hasta que venga el Señor, el cual también aclarará lo oculto de las tinieblas, y manifestará los intentos de los corazones: y entonces cada uno tendrá de Dios la alabanza.
6Esto empero, hermanos, he pasado por ejemplo en mí y en Apolos por amor de vosotros; para que en nosotros aprendáis á no saber más de lo que está escrito, hinchándoos por causa de otro el uno contra el otro.
7Porque ¿quién te distingue? ¿ó qué tienes que no hayas recibido? Y si lo recibiste, ¿de qué te glorías como si no hubieras recibido?
8Ya estáis hartos, ya estáis ricos, sin nosotros reináis; y ojalá reinéis, para que nosotros reinemos también juntamente con vosotros.
9Porque á lo que pienso, Dios nos ha mostrado á nosotros los apóstoles por los postreros, como á sentenciados á muerte: porque somos hechos espectáculo al mundo, y á los ángeles, y á los hombres.
10Nosotros necios por amor de Cristo, y vosotros prudentes en Cristo; nosotros flacos, y vosotros fuertes; vosotros nobles, y nosotros viles.
11Hasta esta hora hambreamos, y tenemos sed, y estamos desnudos, y somos heridos de golpes, y andamos vagabundos;
12Y trabajamos, obrando con nuestras manos: nos maldicen, y bendecimos: padecemos persecución, y sufrimos:
13Somos blasfemados, y rogamos: hemos venido á ser como la hez del mundo, el desecho de todos hasta ahora.
14No escribo esto para avergonzaros: mas amonéstoos como á mis hijos amados.
15Porque aunque tengáis diez mil ayos en Cristo, no tendréis muchos padres; que en Cristo Jesús yo os engendré por el evangelio.
16Por tanto, os ruego que me imitéis.
17Por lo cual os he enviado á Timoteo, que es mi hijo amado y fiel en el Señor, el cual os amonestará de mis caminos cuáles sean en Cristo, de la manera que enseño en todas partes en todas las iglesias.
18Mas algunos están envanecidos, como si nunca hubiese yo de ir á vosotros.
19Empero iré presto á vosotros, si el Señor quisiere; y entenderé, no las palabras de los que andan hinchados, sino la virtud.
20Porque el reino de Dios no consiste en palabras, sino en virtud.
21¿Qué queréis? ¿iré á vosotros con vara, ó con caridad y espíritu de mansedumbre?

1Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
3But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
5Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.
6And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.
7For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?
8Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.
9For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.
10We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
11Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you.
15For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
16Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
17For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.
18Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.
19But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.
20For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.
21What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?

1So let a man think of us as Christ’s servants and stewards of God’s mysteries.
2Here, moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
3But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you, or by a human court. Yes, I don’t even judge my own self.
4For I know nothing against myself. Yet I am not justified by this, but he who judges me is the Lord.

10We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You have honor, but we have dishonor.
11Even to this present hour we hunger, thirst, are naked, are beaten, and have no certain dwelling place.
12We toil, working with our own hands. When people curse us, we bless. Being persecuted, we endure.
13Being defamed, we entreat. We are made as the filth of the world, the dirt wiped off by all, even until now.
14I don’t write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children.
15For though you have ten thousand tutors in Christ, you don’t have many fathers. For in Christ Jesus, I became your father through the Good News.
16I beg you therefore, be imitators of me.
17Because of this I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, even as I teach everywhere in every assembly.
18Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you.
19But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord is willing. And I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power.
20For God’s Kingdom is not in word, but in power.
21What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?
