1And it happened that ⌞in the spring time of year⌟, the time when kings go out to battle, Joab led the troops of the army and destroyed the land of the ⌞Ammonites⌟. And he came and besieged Rabbah, but David remained in Jerusalem. And Joab struck Rabbah and destroyed it.
2And David took the crown of their king from his head and found it to weigh a talent of gold. And in it was a precious stone. Then it was placed upon the head of David. And he brought out the booty of the city, a large amount.
3And the people who were in it he brought out, and ⌞he set them to work with saws and iron implements and axes⌟. Thus David did to all the cities of the ⌞Ammonites⌟. Then David returned, and all the nation went with him.
4And after this there arose a war in Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite struck down Sippai, one of the descendants of the Rephaim. And they were subdued.
5And again there was war with the Philistines. And Elhanan son of Jair struck down Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the shaft of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
6And again there was war in Gath. And there was a ⌞very tall⌟ man there, and ⌞he had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all⌟. He himself was also a descendant of the Rephaim.
7And he taunted Israel, but Jehonathan son of Shimea, brother of David, struck him down.
8These were born to the giants in Gath, and they fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.

1Y ACONTECIÓ á la vuelta del año, en el tiempo que suelen los reyes salir á la guerra, que Joab sacó las fuerzas del ejército, y destruyó la tierra de los hijos de Ammón, y vino y cercó á Rabba. Mas David estaba en Jerusalem: y Joab batió á Rabba, y destruyóla.
2Y tomó David la corona de su rey de encima de su cabeza, y hallóla de peso de un talento de oro, y había en ella piedras preciosas; y fué puesta sobre la cabeza de David. Y además de esto sacó de la ciudad un muy gran despojo.
3Sacó también al pueblo que estaba en ella, y cortólos con sierras, y con trillos de hierro, y segures. Lo mismo hizo David á todas las ciudades de los hijos de Ammón. Y volvióse David con todo el pueblo á Jerusalem.
4Después de esto aconteció que se levantó guerra en Gezer con los Filisteos; é hirió Sibbecai Husathita á Sippai, del linaje de los gigantes; y fueron humillados.
5Y volvióse á levantar guerra con los Filisteos; é hirió Elhanán hijo de Jair á Lahmi, hermano de Goliath Getheo, el asta de cuya lanza era como un enjullo de tejedores.
6Y volvió á haber guerra en Gath, donde hubo un hombre de grande estatura, el cual tenía seis dedos en pies y manos, en todos veinticuatro: y también era hijo de Rapha.
7Denostó él á Israel, mas hiriólo Jonathán, hijo de Sima hermano de David.
8Estos fueron hijos de Rapha en Gath, los cuales cayeron por mano de David y de sus siervos.

1And it came to pass, that after the year was expired, at the time that kings go out to battle, Joab led forth the power of the army, and wasted the country of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. And Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
2And David took the crown of their king from off his head, and found it to weigh a talent of gold, and there were precious stones in it; and it was set upon David’s head: and he brought also exceeding much spoil out of the city.
3And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes. Even so dealt David with all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
4And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, that was of the children of the giant: and they were subdued.
5And there was war again with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair slew Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spear staff was like a weaver’s beam.
6And yet again there was war at Gath, where was a man of great stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each foot: and he also was the son of the giant.
7But when he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimea David’s brother slew him.
8These were born unto the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

3He brought out the people who were in it, and had them cut with saws, with iron picks, and with axes. David did so to all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then David and all the people returned to Jerusalem.
4After this, war arose at Gezer with the Philistines. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, of the sons of the giant; and they were subdued.
5Again there was war with the Philistines; and Elhanan the son of Jair killed Lahmi the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.
