Ocurrió que después de esto Nahas, rey de los Amonitas murió, y su hijo fue rey en su lugar.

DESPUÉS de estas cosas aconteció que murió Naas rey de los hijos de Ammón, y reinó en su lugar su hijo.

Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his stead.

After this, Nahash the king of the children of Ammon died, and his son reigned in his place.

David dijo: "Mostraré bondad a Hanún hijo de Nahas porque su padre demostró bondad conmigo." Así que David envió mensajeros a él para consolarlo respecto a su padre. Los siervos de David entraron a la tierra de los Amonitas y fueron a Hanún, para poder consolarlo.

Y dijo David: Haré misericordia con Hanán hijo de Naas, porque también su padre hizo conmigo misericordia. Así David envió embajadores que lo consolasen de la muerte de su padre. Mas venidos los siervos de David en la tierra de los hijos de Ammón á Hanán, para consolarle,

And David said, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father shewed kindness to me. And David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. So the servants of David came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun, to comfort him.

David said, “I will show kindness to Hanun the son of Nahash, because his father showed kindness to me.” So David sent messengers to comfort him concerning his father. David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon to Hanun to comfort him.

Pero los príncipes de los amonitas dijeron a Hanún: "Crees tú que David está honrando a tu padre porque envió hombres a consolarte? ¿No será que sus siervos vienen a ti para explorar y examinar la tierra para derrocarla?"

Los príncipes de los hijos de Ammón dijeron á Hanán: ¿A tu parecer honra David á tu padre, que te ha enviado consoladores? ¿no vienen antes sus siervos á ti para escudriñar, é inquirir, y reconocer la tierra?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent comforters unto thee? are not his servants come unto thee for to search, and to overthrow, and to spy out the land?

But the princes of the children of Ammon said to Hanun, “Do you think that David honors your father, in that he has sent comforters to you? Haven’t his servants come to you to search, to overthrow, and to spy out the land?”

Así que Hanún agarró a los siervos de David, los rapó, cortó sus ropas desde la cintura hasta la cadera y los envió de regreso.

Entonces Hanán tomó los siervos de David, y rapólos, y cortóles los vestidos por medio, hasta las nalgas, y despachólos.

Wherefore Hanun took David’s servants, and shaved them, and cut off their garments in the midst hard by their buttocks, and sent them away.

Cuando le explicaron esto a David, envió a mensajeros para que se ruenieran con ellos con un mensaje porque los hombres estaban profundamente avergonzados. El rey dijo: "Quédense en Jericó hasta que sus barbas crezcan otra vez, y entonces regresen."

Fuéronse pues, y dada que fué la nueva á David de aquellos varones, él envió á recibirlos, porque estaban muy afrentados. E hízoles decir el rey: Estaos en Jericó hasta que os crezca la barba, y entonces volveréis.

Then there went certain, and told David how the men were served. And he sent to meet them: for the men were greatly ashamed. And the king said, Tarry at Jericho until your beards be grown, and then return.

Then some people went and told David how the men were treated. He sent to meet them; for the men were greatly humiliated. The king said, “Stay at Jericho until your beards have grown, and then return.”

Cuando los amonitas se dieron cuenta que se habían convertido en una molestia para David, Hanún y los amonitas enviaron mil talentos de plata para alquilar carruajes arameos y hombres de a caballo de Aram, Maaca y de Soba.

Y viendo los hijos de Ammón que se habían hecho odiosos á David, Hanán y los hijos de Ammón enviaron mil talentos de plata, para tomar á sueldo carros y gente de á caballo de Siria de los ríos, y de la Siria de Maachâ, y de Soba.

And when the children of Ammon saw that they had made themselves odious to David, Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousand talents of silver to hire them chariots and horsemen out of Mesopotamia, and out of Syria-maachah, and out of Zobah.

Ellos le alquilaron a los arameos treintidos mil carruajes con el rey de Maaca y su gente, que vinieron y acamparon antes de Medeba. Los amonitas se reunieron y juntos desde sus ciudades salieron para la guerra.

Y tomaron á sueldo treinta y dos mil carros, y al rey de Maachâ y á su pueblo, los cuales vinieron y asentaron su campo delante de Medeba. Y juntáronse también los hijos de Ammón de sus ciudades, y vinieron á la guerra.

So they hired thirty and two thousand chariots, and the king of Maachah and his people; who came and pitched before Medeba. And the children of Ammon gathered themselves together from their cities, and came to battle.

Cuando David escuchó sobre esto, él envió a Joab y su ejército completo para encontrarse con ellos.

La gente de Amón salieron y se alinearon para la batalla en la puerta de la ciudad mientras los reyes que habían venido estaban solos en el campo.

Y los hijos de Ammón salieron, y ordenaron su tropa á la entrada de la ciudad; y los reyes que habían venido, estaban por sí en el campo.

And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array before the gate of the city: and the kings that were come were by themselves in the field.

Cuando Joab vio las filas de batalla al frente y en la retaguardia, escogió algunos de los mejores guerreros de Israel y los organizó contra los arameos.

Y viendo Joab que la haz de la batalla estaba contra él delante y á las espaldas, escogió de todos los más aventajados que había en Israel, y ordenó su escuadrón contra los Siros.

En cuanto al resto del ejercito, él puso al mando a Abisai su hermano y los puso en filas de batalla en contra del ejército de Amón.

And the rest of the people he delivered unto the hand of Abishai his brother, and they set themselves in array against the children of Ammon.

Joab dijo: "Si los arameos son muy fuertes para mi, entonces tú, Abisai, debes rescatarme. Pero si el ejército de Amón es demasiado fuerte para ti, entonces yo vendré y te rescataré.

Y dijo: Si los Siros fueren más fuertes que yo, tú me salvarás; y si los Ammonitas fueren más fuertes que tú, yo te salvaré.

And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will help thee.

He said, “If the Syrians are too strong for me, then you are to help me; but if the children of Ammon are too strong for you, then I will help you.

Sé fuerte y deja que nosotros demostremos ser fuerte para nuestro pueblo y para las ciudades de Dios porque el Señor hará lo que es bueno para su propósito."

Esfuérzate, y esforcémonos por nuestro pueblo, y por las ciudades de nuestro Dios; y haga Jehová lo que bien le pareciere.

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

Be courageous, and let’s be strong for our people and for the cities of our God. May the LORD do that which seems good to him.”

Así que Joab y los soldados de su ejército avanzaron a la batalla en contra de los arameos, que fueron forzados a huir del ejército de Israel.

Acercóse luego Joab y el pueblo que tenía consigo, para pelear contra los Siros; mas ellos huyeron delante de él.

So Joab and the people that were with him drew nigh before the Syrians unto the battle; and they fled before him.

Cuando el ejército de Amón vio que los arameos habían huído, ellos también huyeron del hermano de Joab, Abisai, y regresaron a la ciudad. Entonces Joab regresó de la gente de Amón y regresó a Jerusalén.

Y los hijos de Ammón, viendo que los Siros habían huído, huyeron también ellos delante de Abisai su hermano, y entráronse en la ciudad. Entonces Joab se volvió á Jerusalem.

And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, they likewise fled before Abishai his brother, and entered into the city. Then Joab came to Jerusalem.

Cuando los arameos vieron que ellos estaban siendo derrotados por Israel, ellos enviaron por refuerzos desde el Rio Eufrates con Sofac el comandante de Hadad Ezer.

Y viendo los Siros que habían caído delante de Israel, enviaron embajadores, y trajeron á los Siros que estaban de la otra parte del río, cuyo capitán era Sophach, general del ejército de Adarezer.

And when the Syrians saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river: and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.

When the Syrians saw that they were defeated by Israel, they sent messengers and called out the Syrians who were beyond the River, with Shophach the captain of the army of Hadadezer leading them.

Cuando esto le fue dicho a David, el reunió a todo Israel y juntos cruzó el Jordán y vino sobre ellos. Él organizó el ejército para la batalla en contra de los arameos y ellos pelearon contra él.

Luego que fué dado aviso á David, juntó á todo Israel, y pasando el Jordán vino á ellos, y ordenó contra ellos su ejército. Y como David hubo ordenado su tropa contra ellos, pelearon con él los Siros.

And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and passed over Jordan, and came upon them, and set the battle in array against them. So when David had put the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.

Los arameos huyeron de Israel, y David mató a siete mil arameos de los carruajes y cuarenta mil soldados de a pie. También mató a Sofac, el comandante del ejército.

Mas el Siro huyó delante de Israel; y mató David de los Siros siete mil hombres de los carros, y cuarenta mil hombres de á pie: asimismo mató á Sophach, general del ejército.

But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.

The Syrians fled before Israel; and David killed of the Syrian men seven thousand charioteers and forty thousand footmen, and also killed Shophach the captain of the army.

Cuando todos los reyes que eran siervos de Hadad Ezer vieron que habían sido derrotados por Israel, ellos hicieron la paz con David y le sirvieron. Así que el pueblo de Aram ya no estaba dispuesto a ayudar a los amonitas.

Y viendo los Siros de Adarezer que habían caído delante de Israel, concertaron paz con David, y fueron sus siervos; y nunca más quiso el Siro ayudar á los hijos de Ammón.

And when the servants of Hadarezer saw that they were put to the worse before Israel, they made peace with David, and became his servants: neither would the Syrians help the children of Ammon any more.

When the servants of Hadadezer saw that they were defeated by Israel, they made peace with David and served him. The Syrians would not help the children of Ammon any more.
