1Als nun David in seinem Palaste wohnte, sprach David einst zum Propheten Nathan: Ich wohne nun im Cedernpalaste, während die Lade mit dem Gesetze Jahwes unter Zelttüchern weilt!
2Nathan erwiderte dem Könige: Was du irgend im Sinne hast, das führe aus, denn Gott ist mit dir!
3Aber noch in derselben Nacht erging an Nathan folgender Befehl Gottes:
4Wohlan, sage meinem Knechte David: So spricht Jahwe: Nicht du sollst mir das Haus zur Wohnung bauen!
5Habe ich doch in keinem Hause gewohnt seit der Zeit, da ich die Israeliten herführte, bis zum heutigen Tage - vielmehr wanderte ich in einer Zeltwohnung umher.
6Habe ich etwa, solange ich in ganz Israel umherzog, zu einem der Richter Israels, denen ich den Auftrag gab, mein Volk Israel zu weiden, je ein Wort derart gesagt: Warum baut ihr mir keinen Cedernpalast?
7So sollst du denn jetzt meinem Knechte David verkünden: So spricht Jahwe der Heerscharen: Ich habe dich von der Weide hinter der Herde weggeholt, daß du Fürst über mein Volk Israel werden solltest,
8habe dir beigestanden in allem, was du unternommen hast, und habe alle deine Feinde vor dir her vertilgt; und ich will dir einen Namen schaffen gleich dem Namen der Größten auf Erden
9und werde meinem Volke Israel eine Stätte anweisen und es da einpflanzen, daß es an seiner Stätte wohnen kann, und gewaltthätige Menschen es nicht mehr aufreiben wie vordem
10seit der Zeit, da ich Richter über mein Volk Israel bestellt habe, und will alle deine Feinde demütigen. Darum kündige ich dir an, daß Jahwe dir ein Haus bauen wird.
11Wenn einst deine Zeit voll ist, daß du hingehst und dich deinen Vätern zugesellst, dann will ich deine Nachkommenschaft, die aus deinem Leibe vohanden sein wird, zu deiner Nachfolge bestimmen und will ihr Königtum bestätigen.
12Sie soll mir ein Haus bauen, und ich will ihren Thron für immer bestätigen.
13Ich will ihr Vater, und sie soll mir Sohn sein, und ich will ihr meine Gnade nicht entziehen, wie ich sie deinem Vorgänger entzogen habe.
14Vielmehr will ich sie für immer über mein Haus und mein Königtum bestellen, und ihr Thron soll für alle Zeiten Bestand haben!
15Genau diesen Worten und diesem Gesichte gemäß redete denn Nathan zu David.
16Da ging der König David hinein, setzte sich vor Jahwe nieder und rief: Wer bin ich, Jahwe, o Gott, und was ist mein Haus, daß du mich bis hierher gebracht hast?
17Und das genügt dir noch nicht, o Gott, vielmehr hast du deine Zusage auch auf das Haus deines Sklaven erstreckt und zwar auf weit hinaus, und du ließest mich schauen Geschlechter der Menschen, Jahwe, o Gott.
18Aber was soll David noch weiter zu dir sagen? Du selbst kennst ja deinen Sklaven!
19Jahwe, um deines Sklaven willen und deinem Herzen nach thatest du das, daß du deinem Sklaven alles dies Herrliche verkündigest.
20Jahwe, niemand ist dir gleich und kein Gott außer dir nach alle dem, was wir mit eigenen Ohren gehört haben.
21Und wo gleicht auf Erden deinem Volke Israel ein anderes Volk, das ein Gott sich zum Volke zu erkaufen gegangen wäre, sowie ihm einen Namen zu schaffen, ihnen Großes und Furchtbares zu erweisen, vor seinem Volk ein anderes Volk und seinen Gott zu vertreiben?
22Aber du hast dein Volk Israel für alle Zeiten zu deinem Volke bestimmt und du, Jahwe, bist ihr Gott geworden.
23Aber nun, Jahwe, möge sich die Zusage, die du in betreff deines Sklaven und seines Hauses gegeben hast, für alle Zeiten giltig erweisen, und thue, wie du geredet hast.
24Dann wird sich dein Name treu erweisen und für alle Zeiten berühmt sein und lauten: Jahwe der Heerscharen, Israels Gott, und das Haus deines Sklaven David wird vor dir Bestand haben.
25Denn du, mein Gott, hast deinem Sklaven die Eröffnung gemacht, daß du ihm ein Haus bauen wolltest; darum hat dein Sklave sich ein Herz gefaßt, dieses Gebet dir vorzutragen.
26Nun denn, Jahwe, du bist Gott: nachdem du deinem Sklaven diese herrliche Zusage gemacht hast, -
27nun denn, laß es dir gefallen und segne das Haus deines Sklaven, daß es für immer vor dir bestehe. Denn was du, Jahwe, segnest, ist gesegnet für immer!

1Y ACONTECIÓ que morando David en su casa, dijo David al profeta Nathán: He aquí yo habito en casa de cedro, y el arca del pacto de Jehová debajo de cortinas.
2Y Nathán dijo á David: Haz todo lo que está en tu corazón, porque Dios es contigo.
3En aquella misma noche fué palabra de Dios á Nathán, diciendo:
4Ve y di á David mi siervo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Tú no me edificarás casa en que habite:
5Porque no he habitado en casa alguna desde el día que saqué á los hijos de Israel hasta hoy; antes estuve de tienda en tienda, y de tabernáculo en tabernáculo.
6En todo cuanto anduve con todo Israel ¿hablé una palabra á alguno de los jueces de Israel, á los cuales mandé que apacentasen mi pueblo, para decirles: Por qué no me edificáis una casa de cedro?
7Por tanto, ahora dirás á mi siervo David: Así dijo Jehová de los ejércitos: Yo te tomé de la majada, de detrás del ganado, para que fueses príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel;
8Y he sido contigo en todo cuanto has andado, y he talado á todos tus enemigos de delante de ti, y hete hecho grande nombre, como el nombre de los grandes que son en la tierra.
9Asimismo he dispuesto lugar á mi pueblo Israel, y lo he plantado para que habite por sí, y que no sea más conmovido: ni los hijos de iniquidad lo consumirán más, como antes,
10Y desde el tiempo que puse los jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel; mas humillaré á todos tus enemigos. Hágote además saber que Jehová te ha de edificar casa.
11Y será que, cuando tus días fueren cumplidos para irte con tus padres, levantaré tu simiente después de ti, la cual será de tus hijos, y afirmaré su reino.
12El me edificará casa, y yo confirmaré su trono eternalmente.
13Yo le seré por padre, y él me será por hijo: y no quitaré de él mi misericordia, como la quité de aquel que fué antes de ti;
14Mas yo lo confirmaré en mi casa y en mi reino eternalmente; y su trono será firme para siempre.
15Conforme á todas estas palabras, y conforme á toda esta visión, así habló Nathán á David.
16Y entró el rey David, y estuvo delante de Jehová, y dijo: Jehová Dios, ¿quién soy yo, y cuál es mi casa, que me has traído hasta este lugar?
17Y aun esto, oh Dios, te ha parecido poco, pues que has hablado de la casa de tu siervo para más lejos, y me has mirado como á un hombre excelente, oh Jehová Dios.
18¿Qué más puede añadir David pidiendo de ti para glorificar á tu siervo? mas tú conoces á tu siervo.
19Oh Jehová, por amor de tu siervo y según tu corazón, has hecho toda esta grandeza, para hacer notorias todas tus grandezas.
20Jehová, no hay semejante á ti, ni hay Dios sino tú, según todas las cosas que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.
21¿Y qué gente hay en la tierra como tu pueblo Israel, cuyo Dios fuese y se redimiera un pueblo, para hacerte nombre con grandezas y maravillas, echando las gentes de delante de tu pueblo, que tú rescataste de Egipto?
22Tú has constituído á tu pueblo Israel por pueblo tuyo para siempre; y tú, Jehová, has venido á ser su Dios.
23Ahora pues, Jehová, la palabra que has hablado acerca de tu siervo y de su casa, sea firme para siempre, y haz como has dicho.
24Permanezca pues, y sea engrandecido tu nombre para siempre, á fin de que se diga: Jehová de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, es Dios para Israel. Y sea la casa de tu siervo David firme delante de ti.
25Porque tú, Dios mío, revelaste al oído á tu siervo que le has de edificar casa; por eso ha hallado tu siervo motivo de orar delante de ti.
26Ahora pues, Jehová, tú eres el Dios que has hablado de tu siervo este bien;
27Y ahora has querido bendecir la casa de tu siervo, para que permanezca perpetuamente delante de ti: porque tú, Jehová, la has bendecido, y será bendita para siempre.

1Now it came to pass, as David sat in his house, that David said to Nathan the prophet, Lo, I dwell in an house of cedars, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
2Then Nathan said unto David, Do all that is in thine heart; for God is with thee.
3And it came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build me an house to dwell in:
5For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
6Wheresoever I have walked with all Israel, spake I a word to any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to feed my people, saying, Why have ye not built me an house of cedars?
7Now therefore thus shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, even from following the sheep, that thou shouldest be ruler over my people Israel:
8And I have been with thee whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
9Also I will ordain a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, and they shall dwell in their place, and shall be moved no more; neither shall the children of wickedness waste them any more, as at the beginning,
10And since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will subdue all thine enemies. Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
11And it shall come to pass, when thy days be expired that thou must go to be with thy fathers, that I will raise up thy seed after thee, which shall be of thy sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12He shall build me an house, and I will stablish his throne for ever.
13I will be his father, and he shall be my son: and I will not take my mercy away from him, as I took it from him that was before thee:
14But I will settle him in mine house and in my kingdom for ever: and his throne shall be established for evermore.
15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.
16And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
17And yet this was a small thing in thine eyes, O God; for thou hast also spoken of thy servant’s house for a great while to come, and hast regarded me according to the estate of a man of high degree, O LORD God.
18What can David speak more to thee for the honour of thy servant? for thou knowest thy servant.
19O LORD, for thy servant’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in making known all these great things.
20O LORD, there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21And what one nation in the earth is like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem to be his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
22For thy people Israel didst thou make thine own people for ever; and thou, LORD, becamest their God.
23Therefore now, LORD, let the thing that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant and concerning his house be established for ever, and do as thou hast said.
24Let it even be established, that thy name may be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel: and let the house of David thy servant be established before thee.
25For thou, O my God, hast told thy servant that thou wilt build him an house: therefore thy servant hath found in his heart to pray before thee.
26And now, LORD, thou art God, and hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
27Now therefore let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may be before thee for ever: for thou blessest, O LORD, and it shall be blessed for ever.
World English Bible
1When David was living in his house, David said to Nathan the prophet, “Behold, I live in a cedar house, but the ark of the LORD’s covenant is in a tent.”
2Nathan said to David, “Do all that is in your heart; for God is with you.”
3That same night, the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
4“Go and tell David my servant, ‘The LORD says, “You shall not build me a house to dwell in;
5for I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought up Israel to this day, but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tent to another.
6In all places in which I have walked with all Israel, did I speak a word with any of the judges of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people, saying, ‘Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’
7“Now therefore, you shall tell my servant David, ‘The LORD of Armies says, “I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel.
8I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a name like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.
9I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more. The children of wickedness will not waste them any more, as at the first,
10and from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover I tell you that the LORD will build you a house.
11It will happen, when your days are fulfilled that you must go to be with your fathers, that I will set up your offspring after you, who will be of your sons; and I will establish his kingdom.
12He will build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.
13I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will not take my loving kindness away from him, as I took it from him who was before you;
14but I will settle him in my house and in my kingdom forever. His throne will be established forever.”’”
15According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.
16Then David the king went in and sat before the LORD; and he said, “Who am I, LORD God, and what is my house, that you have brought me this far?
17This was a small thing in your eyes, O God, but you have spoken of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and have respected me according to the standard of a man of high degree, LORD God.
18What can David say yet more to you concerning the honor which is done to your servant? For you know your servant.
19LORD, for your servant’s sake, and according to your own heart, you have done all this greatness, to make known all these great things.
20LORD, there is no one like you, neither is there any God besides you, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
21What one nation in the earth is like your people Israel, whom God went to redeem to himself for a people, to make you a name by great and awesome things, in driving out nations from before your people whom you redeemed out of Egypt?
22For you made your people Israel your own people forever; and you, LORD, became their God.
23Now, LORD, let the word that you have spoken concerning your servant, and concerning his house, be established forever, and do as you have spoken.
24Let your name be established and magnified forever, saying, ‘The LORD of Armies is the God of Israel, even a God to Israel. The house of David your servant is established before you.’
25For you, my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house. Therefore your servant has found courage to pray before you.
26Now, LORD, you are God, and have promised this good thing to your servant.
27Now it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever before you; for you, LORD, have blessed, and it is blessed forever.”
